The p910i what shall i do???

At the mo im using a k700i which i love and im very happy with it does the job and a little more. I previously had a p900 which was great but a few things annoyed me lack of internal mem, not being able to upgrade with pro magic gate, no 262 k screen and general txt implentation. But now the buggers have only gone and fixed those issues. The question is do i get the p910i in november when its supposed to be released or get the 6630.

For what of the 6630? it only excels on connections; which we do like 5% most of the time? P910 offers most choices of text input; very well balanced between a PDA and phone (actually the best) strong solid multimedia capabilities; large large larger screen than 6630.

Large screen; main problem here. Phones have come to a revolutionary stage where connections have gone faster; all types of connectivity have been included into phones (WiFi, BT, GPRS, EDGE, 3G bla bla bla) 6630 - very good connectivity, how about usability? there's one very significant advantage of touch screens over 5-way D-pads with non-touch screens. Manipulation of information, touch screens allows more datda to be showed under one screen, and because u can click on them directly, u are able to manipulate all the information presented on the screen. It's other way on non-touch screens; they have to leave them under different stages of menus to increase the ease of use. Second thing about the connectivity thing; u guys know why sony stop the PDAs? the size of any PDA now (screen size related) is for the ease of retrieving data from ur PDA; bcos few years back phones can't handle them, so the inititial concept of a PDA is to be portable in ur palm, u can read data or information fastly. But how about productivity? try to do or develope a stock card listing or pricing on an excel in PDAs - u'll shortened ur life) and WiFi? try scrolling around horizontally and vertically on web pages (although some browers can convert them to long modes.. but that'll require more reading efforts and decrease the user friendliness.)
such connections are no more suitable for devices that size. Thats why even if 6630 had integrated WiFi i wouldn't be buying it. 6630? too much information flowing in and ur gonne manipulate them quickly......... i would definitely get a P910.

Cheers for the advise its pretty much erasd any doubt in my mind. I prusume the tv app works on the p910 like it did with the p900. How do u think the cam will look like???

but for myself, having had a p900, I think that I wont buy a p910 just yet. I agree that using a stylus is way more convenient than using a d-pad, but I think that that argument applies more to PDA's rather than to phones. The p9 series is more like a phone-with-pda functionalities than a pda-with-phone functionalities - like an XDA, or XDA-II. Using the latter in surfing is easier because they're essentially PDA's already. But using a stylus and a touchscreen is not always easy, like when you're on the move, like in a car, or you're walking/moving - it's tedious at best. Like me, for example, I always find myself looking for a table. Coz if you dont, you sometimes get the feeling that you might drop that stylus or worse, might drop the phone. And when you're walking - you sometimes tend to press harder on the screen. Or sometimes, you pressed the wrong button, because your stylus is moving.

anyhow, going thru all that is just half the argument. Say you do find a convenient spot (in your favorite coffee shop), and you find a good table, have a couple of bagels or muffins ready, have your work at hand - and is now ready to connect. You'll notice that you're still stuck with GPRS speeds? While that man beside you with a 6630, with the same coffee and bagels, is connected to a WiFi base station - using EDGE or 3G to connect to the net, and is getting his information at 3 to 5 times faster than you're getting yours.

which is what I think is the essence of using your phone to connect to the net in the first place - to get the info you need quickly, briefly, and then go back to work. I dont think anybody spends hours doing that, right? You wouldn't be downloading tons of data or files, or view large graphics, on that phone, right? A notebook or the PC at the office, or the PC at home, is better suited for that.

If Im going to fork out more than 500$, I'd rather spend it on something - which gets me my information quickly than for something that's easy to use, but tedious.

Good point ther mate, but the issue i concerned the most is : 3G, third generation; why do we call them 3rd generation? it's because only by the speed of at least 384kbps only do we can stream Videos seamlessly,the 2.5 generation cope with documents and word base informations well. IF, like what i say and what you all agree, urgent information to be transfered were mostly EMAILS. we wuldn't be that in need of 3G afterall. But in the end, u did convince me with the faster data transfer thing; but IMO, what P910 offers are enhancements that help you for the things you do most of the time, and the advs of 6630 are those which u did for 5% most of the time.
And regarding the wobble thing bout writing using a stylus on the move; thats the main problem with pure PDA plus phones (i.e. O2XDAII) and most of the predecessors of PDA phones. Thats why i think SE had came out with the best solution of form factors for these type of communicators - flip out keypad to reveal writing and extra viewing area when u need to do those PDA stuffs, and flip back the flip and disable the touchscreen and cover some part of the viewing are and use the Keypad to manipulate most of the stuffs u do (90% of the time) as a phone. cheers!

The camera? when i played wih the pre production unit. ... mmm NOT MUCH OF AN IMPROVEMENT. but the specs do suggests it uses that on a K700. (Which is much better than the one found on P900)

Oh yeah, the keypad flip. In my case, I was 95% using it without the keypad anyway... that's why having it isn't that important for me. First, is that there have been reports of the "hinge-crack" developing after prolonged keypad use. Second, is that I'd rather use the touchscreen fully - no matter if the flip is closed or not anyway, it's still on, right? So I'd rather use it to its full potential.

Maybe this is exactly the reason why I'm not too excited about the p910, aside from being stuck still with slower data speeds (gprs), there's not much of an improvement once that keypad flip is removed. Nicer screen? Yup, but the p900 screen is nice enough already, IMO. And they're both sporting VGA cameras only - not 1mp or 1mp plus. The 6630, meanwhile, has a 1.3mp camera built in.

Maybe SE will give us the p1000 soon? I certainly hope so.

Again, u do have ur point, but i guess since it's the camera and faster data connection speed ur up to.... maybe 6630 does suit u more.

BUT, IMO.... P800 to P900 small improvement. P900 to P910 larger improvement than P800 to P900. P.S. P910, not P1000

P910 for belgium arround mid-end november. the flash works on it. keyboard doesn't, but bluetooth keyboards will be on the markt soon.

Because when it's stereo, it has a flash and a keyboard I think I will probarbly get this one in stead of the Nokia 6630.

It doesn't have a Mpix cam?

sure, all SE phones have stereo, you'll have to be insain to make phones with just mono sound
