SX1 - Poor Battery Life

Can anyone shed some light on this please ?

I just got my phone 2 days ago and loved it, however I find that my phone charge lasts only 2 days with minimal usuage - I haven't even tried the MP3 player or the radio !!

I charged it this morning and already its less than 50% charge, and all I did was make a few calls and switched on my bluetoth headset 2 times (10 mins max each.)

According into Infosync they experienced only 48hrs of standby but in his review "our" Mike said he got almost 8.3 days !!

Any ideas ?

Whats your firmware version?.... from what I understand the FW07 (latest?) fixes allot of things the (orginal?) FW04 goobered upon.

Check it! Update it! Report back!

Re:SX1 - Poor Battery Life

Hi,

I just checked and my SVN number is only 06.

Should I upgrade to firmware 07 or 10 ? Since I am using the UK retail version, I can only find firmware 10 for this and not 07.

Also, I forgot to mention in my original post I had a MMC card in my phone all the time and I have read on the net that some people have found that even if you do not use the MMC card, if its in the phone it eats the battery life rapidly.

My charge died in 1 day, so I recharged it overnight and took out my MMC card, it seems that the battery life "may" be extended.

Any more tips ? I guess I do not have much choice but to upprage to firmware 10, is there any known issue jumping from 06 to 10 ?

All help is appreciated.

PErhaps FW10 is the same as 7, just a UK release number?..... I would upgrade and see how it goes. Are there specifications on what the FW updates?.... I saw go for it

i updated to fw10 and personally the battery life could be better, but its still a great phone.

My biggest drawback would be the speed of the unit.

having finally managed to install FW10 I did notice some new things, one of the best bits being the zoom in and out feature when taking full screen pictures (there is also a light icon which flickers as it adjusts to the surroundings).

The battery life does seem much improved, but I am using it WITHOUT having a MMC in the phone. Tomorrow I will try it with a MMC card. Does anyone know if the MMC card "eats" battery life even if it just "sits" there and it is not being used ? Does anyone know of any brand of MMC card that uses up the least amount of battery power ?

I never listened to the radio or the MP3 player before my upgrade so cannot comment on the sound quality. However I did notice that a video clip taken by my wife on her 6820 is much louder on her phone than on my SX1 even at full volume.

If I find anything else that is an improvement I shall post it here.

But the battery life does seem improved (without a MMC card).
