What makes you think these have anything to do with the GX line?

the pics are just V601SH http://www.sharp.co.jp/products/v601sh/index.html
an upgrade of SH53 (the phone im using rite now ) http://www.sharp.co.jp/products/jsh53/index.htmlnothing to do with the GX line but, it would be fair to compare SH53 with GX30 eyr right apart from the screen 2.4inch vs 2.2inchand support for xmdf i would expect the GX40 to look more like the SH900i/SH505iS http://www.sharp.co.jp/products/sh505is/index.html instead of the V6xx and V8xx series http://www.sharp.co.jp/products/v601sh/index.html and btw, GX20 is nothing like SH52...... which was suppsoed to the same parallel generation (not to mention the 2yr tech difference) http://www.sharp.co.jp/products/jsh52/index.html |

Expect the GX-40 to look more like a Vodafone Japan phone, because NTT DoCoMo will literally kill Sharp for using a design based on an i-mode phone (DoCoMo subsidise around half the costs of building a phone for them, on the condition that they own the phone's design and stuff). They won't allow Sharp to use an i-mode phone or parts of one unless it were for an i-mode network in Europe or something.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to some basic mention of the GX-40 at Cebit, like they made mention of the GX-20 last year when all they showed was what the screen could do. ![]() |

AL9999 could be right that NTT DoCoMo will possess exclusive rights for the incredibly near-perfect SH505is (it is the V601SH + 3D QVGA Display!!!).
I am quite skeptical that Vodafone will simply rename V601SH as GX 40 for the European market. Reason being that V601SH is really near perfection (i.e. it has none of the GX 30 shortcomings and has many more additional features!!!). Thus I boldy assume that GX 40 definitely will be a 2.0 Megapixels camera phone but without features like "understanding your doggie problem", video output to TV, 2.4" display, read e-books, composite panorama, scan barcode or text, speaker phone, user-defined shortcut keys, 25-burst mode i.e. capturing 25 images continuously, editing video etc. Can I ever be satisfied? ![]() |
