Sharp GX20 / GX22

I'm considering buying this phone. A few questions before I make my final decision.

1. I've read that there is an Infra-Red modem on this phone. If this is so (I assume it is? correct me if I'm wrong), can I connect it to..say.. my laptop, assuming it too has an Infra-Red port, to download games/wallpapers and the like? In other words, can I connect my phone with my laptop without buying a data cable?

2. I've read reviews and people have complained that they cannot pick up/end calls by opening/closing the flip? Please tell me this is not true.

3. Are there any flaws/ downsides of the phone? (Please no replies about keying in text messages, as I will never do this anyway).
