Yeah it's not exactly very upmarket, but one thing I have to credit it for is he does manage to source things really early. I mean he probably shouldn't post some of the pictures and reviews and stuff he does but they're good for a first glance sometimes.

Trinity has GPS Chip but it is software deactivated



According to author of this review Orange will offer GPS also in HTC Trinity (otherwise known not to have built-in GPS), not just in HTC Trinity:

Orange France is about to introduce two new "HTC" PDA Phones to be bundled with their new version of "off-board" navigation software called Orange Navigation 7. In mid November, Orange will sell the SPV M700 - that is based on the already known HTC Trinity - and the HTC Artemis (SPV name unkown).

Just a note about the HTC Trinity. It will be sold without GPS chipset activated (software de-activaton only) but Orange will include it in early 2007. So, HTC Trinity and HTC artemis are two GPS Windows Mobile PDA Phones...

Orange's version of Trinity (SPV M700) will get its GPS activated.

VPA compact GPS - Vodafone branded Trinity with GPS!

Vodafone Germany's online shop preview unveiled that the German carrier will launch the HTC Trinity (also known as HTC P3600) as VPA compact GPS soon.
As you can see on the name affix "GPS", the Trinity definitely supports GPS which makes it the first 3G enabled Windows Mobile navigation device.
Other features of the HTC Trinity are Windows Mobile 5.0, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G UMTS/HSDPA as well as W-LAN and Bluetooth and a 2.0 megapixel camera.




Vodafone Germany neither announced a price nor an estimated release date yet but it shouldn't take too long anymore.
Please be aware, that Vodafone Germany will ship this device with German user interface, so it doesn't makes sense to order it if you don't speak German. Nevertheless, chances are good that the VPA compact GPS will be launched in other Vodafone countries as well.
