Bluetooth problem with P900

I have a problem with the bluetooth on my P900

I can activate bluetooth no problem
I can search for & pair with other devices with the phone.
I can even use my HBH60 headset as long as i dial within the phone.

The problem is that i cannot get any other device to find the P900. It is checked as visable to other devices & will find other devices if you pair from within the phone but get any other device to find the p900 & the search always times out.
It seems with the visable to others box clicked the phone is not.

I cannot voice dial from the headset because the phone will not pick up on the signal from other devices.

This is a very big problem as the phone is supposed to act as a modem to a laptop but cannot do you if it will not allow any device to connect to it.

Can anybody out there help me. I am just short of doing a master reset on the phone at the moment so please HELP!

Either you are doing something wrong, or there is something wrong with your handset.

This is not how they normally work.

Have you tried getting a service update on the SE website? A definate fault with either your handset or the handset you used to find the p900. Good luck...

i have already tried my T610 with the headset & its perfect. I have also paired the T610 with my Ipaq & its fine but as i said before the P900 will not receive bluetooth signels unless it is broadcasting itself.

Well you could first try to turn off the phone, and turn it on again and try the same process.

And if it doesn't try performing hard reset once you have saved a backup of your phone's data.

Still don't work? Send it back for firmware upgrade (Not too sure if there's any yet)

You can do the firmware updates yourself, don't send it back for that.

Michael,

Thanks for the update, but various attemps have been made to utilize the SE update service to no avail as the response from the service is that the CDA 162003/05 R3A05 is not supported.

We have therefore reverted to the traditional route but the problem of the unit hanging ,still persists.
This only occurs in the Messaging mode.

In SA the current versions are the latest available.

Phone. CXC162022 R3C006
Bluetooth . CXC12529 R5D
Organiser . CXC162021 R3A06

Hopefully someone can assist.

Regards

PS. Will you be using the N6820 as your Bluetooth Handset in future tests.?
Apparently the HDW-4 is availiable in Dubai,i urgently need to acquire a unit for test purposes ,using the 6820 as the hanset in
conjunction with the Logitech Bluetooth Hub.
Looking forward to your evaluation on the GN 6110 .

when writing the CDA @ the SE service website, dont add on the part 'R3A05'. just the 'CDA 162003/05'

Your laptop came with built in Bluetooth? Did u check out which services ur laptop allows u to? Or wat profiles were set up? because laptops works a bit different with normal phone's bluetooth. You need to tell the laptop wat to set up, for example after i bought my BT dongle, i had to set up my BT profile a few times to allow it to support OBEX file transfer (which is what u need right now), PIM item transfer (which strangely it syas P910 doesn't support) and Audio Gateway (which transfers my calls to be inputted and output from my microphone and speakers) and PIM synchronization. Make sure ur BT profile in ur laptop had the OBEX File Transfer profile set up to ur P900.
Lastly, not sure if i could help u but there are alot of brands out there(not sure whether ur's is a BT dongle or built-in Bluetooth, but some of them had very lousy and unstable softwares that comes with it, some of them had unstable BT.
