Sharp GX30

First I've seen of this phone, specs are at GSM Arena with a rather grainy looking photo.

Main features are a 240x320 pixel display in 262,000 colours, a 1.1 megapixel camera, bluetooth, quad band GSM, Class 100 GPRS, an SD slot and support for MP3 ringtones (so I guess it plays MP3s too).

I've not seen anything official about this handset yet.

On the contrary, it's actually been confirmed that it has an MP3 player to play MP3 music files, whereas nobody knows if it's capable of playing ringtones though.

And that's class 10 GPRS, in case anybody got some notion of the phone being able to transfer in megabits per second or something weird.

And it is official, because the US FCC certified this phone about a week ago. Word from Vodafone is that it will be out in March in Europe.

im a lil skeptical about the rumour of mp3 function

mp3 ringtones does not equal to mp3 player capabilities
and even for their PDC brothers: J-SH53 and V601SH (that would be the idea of GX40?), they only support secure-mp3, but not regular mp3

i also doubt if they'll start selling remote and optical line-in adaptors outside japan....

just my thought

I must learn to type, yeah class 10

The alleged SD slot makes me feel that this *can* play MP3s. A practical MP3 player needs at least 64Mb, which plainly the GX30 doesn't have on board.

I definitely feel that something official is just around the corner,

Seems you're still doubtful the GX-30 exists at all.

Read http://www.whatmobile.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5710
and put your doubts to rest.
