Europe Germany : Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo will be striking for BenQ Mobile. The exceptional 29-year-old Real Madrid athlete will be used as a testimonial for BenQ Mobile for the first time in spring 2006. They could have had the another Ronaldo (Christiano) - but I suppose the association of "one of the best in the world" is better than looks.

When Vodafone took on Beckham, tons of their Sharp phones sold - friends would go "yeah I got the Beckham phone" (even though in press pictures he used like nokia 8910i) Even though Beckham was mostly on looks - he was/is also an exceptioanlly famous icon. As is Ronaldo - better than the Suzuki-swift guy.

Whose mediocre in your books ? - Football and film stars are universal (as is the Hoff !!!) but find other celebs really are country speicific...
