Arrow GX20 Unlocked

If i buy a GX20 handset will it work with any Sim card? (specifically O2)? I know it will be covered in vodafone symbols but will it still work? I would be talking about buying a 2nd hand handset so i dont have to get a Vodafone contract. Does it matter if it was a contract or PAYG handset originally? As far as i know you cannot buy just a SIM free Gx20 in the UK.

Anyone that can tell me the safest way to unlock the Gx20? Is that to pay Vodafone to do it, and how do you do that?
I live in a country that do not have Vodafone...

Mobilefly have the Sharp GX22 SIM Free for $580 with worldwide shipping. As far as I can tell it's pretty much the same as the GX20, just not Vodafone branded.

GX22 would be a better choice if u dont mind paying more for a new one. It is especially made for HongKong and has different software so it doesnt have the red and white menu but a nice blue one...also it software has the ability to dither colours so you are able to see pictures in jpeg format in 262K(Note the screen is still 65K just the software changes it) + it also doesnt have the Vodafone logo but has the Smatone Logo(Provider in HK that sells the GX22)

Here is a pic of the menu:
