We've all heard rumors of T-Mobile releasing EDGE this summer, but with only 3 weeks left in July and school coming up, they're starting to be late. Unless they already have released EDGE and I just don't know about it, WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED?? I would think they'd make a big deal out of it...
As a side note, I was wondering if anyone's gotten e-mail or streaming video on RealPlayer to work on just the regular GPRS t-zones...I got RealPlayer to work once, but after that it's like they found out and disabled it for good. I've been trying for forever to get my Gmail to work on my phone too, but it too says connection timeout

Also, will the pricing stay the same? I've got a grandfathered $2.99 plan that includes unlimited data, 300 texts, and 30 picture messages...would I be able to use EDGE on this plan do you think?

Well people have been getting EDGE speeds in DC and Altanta and other places, including here in the downtown/chinatown area. ITs just a question of when It will be widespread enought to offcially announce the release of it

I've kept looking and looking, and I couldn't find it...they don't even mention any dates whatsoever!

From what I understand T-mobile is skipping over EDGE and in 2007 will release a true 3G product (I believe HSPDA). Although I heard the same of their EGDE (2.75) I also heard it was supposed to be done in late 2004 - and we know that didnt happen.
Cing is already testing out UMTS in some places in FL I believe from sources. Tmo needs to catch up or they are going to be considered voice-centric. Seems that wqay now, to tell you the truth.
Then there is the sales rumors from DT. Which, I doubt will happen, but you never know.
We shall see.

I just did a test with my 7710 here outside of Philly and managed 90Kbps on my best run downloading half meg images from the MobileBurn.com server.
I've never gotten that kind of speed out of GPRS around here, and when I used my laptop with a K600 I got around 50Kbps.
If it were 120Kbps I'd be certain it was EDGE. But at 90, without me knowing how many GPRS channels a 7710 uses, I can't say for sure.

T-Mobile can't not have EDGE...honestly, they already held out on us long enough. And waiting 2 more years to have a faster internet than GPRS would be ridiculous...they have to release EDGE cause otherwise people will have no choice but to go to Cingular/Verizon/Sprint for fast internet:rolleyes:

Car, dont forget t hey also have a large hotspot base.. though, that wold require more equipment. I heard of they highspeeed plans in an article, and its since been recirculated to a lot of tech blogs and other cell sites. I guess I tend to agree. If I find the article, Ill repose.
I gues there is unofficial EDGE in some areas, but I dont think there will be a national rollout. But I do agree.. I cant wait another 1-2 years for highspeed.d
