I want to use Opera and/or NetFront to view full size internet pages on my Nokia 6680. Anyone manage to do that on T-mobile US, and if so can you provide the T-mobile internet settings (i.e. AP name, IP address, DNS, etc).

I already have the AP for MMS, WAP/GPRS and Mobile-Internet but none of them seem to work.

All you should need are the WAP settings, so thats weird. And of course, an account (but thats silly to mention). There was a site that you cold go to that sent you the information configurable settings via SMS, and it always worked for me.

Also:
http://www.mobiledia.com/forum/topic25108.html

Other than that wap.voicestream.com should be set for the wap gateway.

another site would be:
I think this is it: http://www.nokia.com.au/nokia/0,8764,49627,00.html
but I think this is UK only. Try the link above this.

carcomptoy, to be honest I had the link and posted the wrong one. Recently changed jobs, and my favorites were "deported" :-P

Though, I dont think he needs an IP and DNS, its all DHCP I would assume - since its just a wap gateway. Anyway, I had no idea it was Australia! Maybe I wish I was there :)

LOL subconsciously? Yeah I don't understand why it's not working...I used DorisBrowser with just t-zones WAP settings and I know those browsers are meant to just use the GPRS so idk what's wrong with it...

If you use the regular T-mobile WAP or MMS GPRS access point with NetFront or Opera nothing happens, so you need the T-mobile Internet settings. The instructions also state this.

I cannot use the Nokia Phone Settings service as the US site does not have the Internet settings available (and my phone isn't listed).

The T-mobile Phone Settings service doesn't list my phone so I tried to download the 6600 and 7610 Internet settings which didn't work (and were the same as the old settings I'd found on the NetFront website).

The Nokia 6680 Setting Wizard application only lists European and Asian countries so I cannot use that.

Burcrim.. are you a tmobile subscriber to the GPRS full internet service? I bet you can just call up and get a TECH to tell you all of those.. and actually, I do believe I did get that information once. If I have it posted somewhere I will let you know - but it wont hurt to try :)

Let me know.. now Im curious.

Primary Name Server: 0.0.0.0
Second. Name Server: 0.0.0.0
Proxy Serv. Address: 216.155.165.50
Proxy Port Number: 8080

OR...... you can try this:
https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/tmobileus/ota_support/

OR.........
http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm21625.htm

OTHER APN names for tmobile are:
wap.voicestream.com
internet2.voicestream.com
internet3.voicestream.com

HOPE THIS (OR SOME OF IT) works for man dude :)

Thanks Zodiac....those settings work for both Opera and NetFront. I had read elsewhere that the IP address and proxy server you gave was old so never actually tried 216.155.165.50.

Here are the T-mobile USA settings I'm using for Opera and NetFront. You will also need to add the proxy server and port number info from the last two lines below to the settings for either of the two applications.

Primary Settings
Connection Name: t-zones
Data Bearer: Packet data (only option available on N6680)
Access point name: wap.voicestream.com
User name: none
Prompt Password: No
Password: none
Authentication: Normal
Homepage: http://wap.myvoicestream.com
Gateway IP Address: (not present on N6680)
Connection Security: (not present on N6680)
Session Mode: (not present on N6680)

Advance GPRS Settings
Device IP Address: Automatic
Primary Name Server: 216.155.175.105
Second. Name Server: 216.155.175.106
Proxy Serv. Address: 216.155.165.50
Proxy Port Number: 8080

I think you definitely have the right information but according to this site you don't need to change the DNS server settings:

http://www.gruups.com/tzones :tongue8:

And there's an explanation for how to get every phone and even your laptop to use T-Zones (which I guess is now called T-MobileWeb)

The trick of free internet doesn't work any more.

But you can still call T-Mobile and order "T-MobileWeb" it's $5.99/month and here are the settings to get any phone working on it (including your laptop or blackberry)

By the way, as you can see I was board and searched the site again even though I already posted my views on this...Just read my last one...Sorry guys

I'm still using the same settings above on my N80 (for $2.99/month) and opera mini and the inbuilt Nokia web still work fine.

I had the $2.99/month Tzones with 300 text messages, but I lost that when my family joined together on a family plan (FINALLY!)...now we have the $9.99 unlimited Family messaging, and I have the $5.99 T-Mobile Web. I used to have the $29.99 T-Mobile Internet with HotSpots, but the only reason I was using that was to tether my phone to my laptop to use slow EDGE, which was such a pain that I never did do it, so I downgraded my plan.

This was posted somewhere on WEB. sorry about copyrights. This settings works on my phone. even t-mobile support told me it wont... :)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of the easiest.
For this I'm using my experience with my Sierra Wireless Voq Mobile phone which use to retail for $500 but now can be picked up on ebay probably for around $100.

What we will be using is only the following two parameters:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
and an HTTP Proxy of: 216.155.165.50:8080 FROM the "WAP Network" to "The Internet"

You really have everything you need in those two lines.
But let's step you through it:

* Press Start -> Settings
* Go to "More..." and find the "Data Connections"
* Leave everything in this screen as "automatic"
* Click the "Menu" Button and choose "Edit Connections"
* Choose "4 Proxy Connections"
* Click the "Menu" Button and choose "1 Add"
* Choose these options:
*
Connects from:
WAP Network
Connects to:
The Internet
Proxy (name:port):
216.155.165.50:8080
Type:
HTTP
User name:

Password:

* Click Done
* Click Done Again
* Choose 5 GPRS Connection
* Click the "Menu" Button and choose "1 Add"
* Choose these options:
*
Connects to: Wap Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User Name: Blank
Password: Blank
Primary DNS: 216.155.175.105
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Adress: 216.155.165.050

* Click Done
* Click Done Again
* And Click Done Again
* And Click Done Again (yes...)
* And Click Done Again (no really...)

Now you're set to go.
