Im ready to purchase a new phone, and all of there are offered for free with amazon rebates with a cingular rate plan. I have heard good and bad things about all these phones, and im torn with which to choose. The V3 looks cool, but I dont like motorola menus. The 6620 seems the most functional, but its large, and am I REALLY going to use its functions?? the 6230 seems like a good median, with an MP3 player and the FM radio. Can yall aid me in my choice? Thanks for your help in advance.

I have a SE T610 right now, and though it has a camera and the ability for Java, the only thing I use it for is as a phone.

6230? since its PIM functions can also get synced with a PC. I mean if you're buying 6620, and not prepared to shelved out more $$ for softwares, practically it has the same functionality as a 6230 (albeit less features) and since u said u're gonna use its functions, i'll assume its those calendars, notes and stuffs (which 6230 also has) and regarding 6620's a smartphone and 6230's not; the catch here is that both are using 5-way navi keys and a keypad for primary input, which renders ur usage of 6620 (as a smartphone) with pratically the same efficiency as u using a 6230. Hence i guess 6230, with it's full suite of PIM functions that could get synced, more features (FM and MP3) 6230's a better bet for you than the other 2.

BUT, bad and petit screen, ugly S40 interface, design sucks (IMO) and most of all --- 6230i's on the way. but lets not talk about new, replacement models. For the 3 and what u suggested of ur usage, 6230's the answer.

mmm.... based on what you said, that you use your t610 as a phone only, then maybe the 6620 might be wrong for you? (since it's a smartphone). Maybe what you need is more of an "updated t610" in terms of performance, music playing ability, and camera features?

then my suggestion would be to go for the 6230 (or 6230i, if it's available there already)..... you'd get bluetooth, IR, stereo sound with equalizer, and good cam features. Plus a memory card expansion slot (which your t610 or the razr doesn't have).

cheers!

or if he used to and/or prefers SE, the K750 would be a good upgrade for him...although it does cost more than the 6230i.

yup, that's another choice for him too....or maybe a k700?

for myself only, im not yet quite sold on the sound quality of the k750.
(complaint's of static noises, low volume, hisses and other things still linger on in the net... so personally, maybe I'll wait for more firmware updates before I'd start recommending it. When it comes to sound, I'd feel more comfy recommending the k700 than the k750, at the moment. Of course, it's just me :D).

cheers!

for the factor of being used as "just a phone" id go for the v3.

its fantabulously gorgeous and the menu system, which may taking some used to, is ok if all you want to do is use it as a phone. I.E. take/receive calls/text.

I like it because its something different. All i normally get are the candybars. I would normally go for the nokia option when considering a "just a phone" thing because the basics they do quite well. But the v3 also does basic things well plus its a great wowwy phone. Surtout l'un noir

Definitement le noir, aussi, mais je prefere le 6230. If you're just gonna buy the phone for being a phone, get the 6230. While it's got a small screen, it'll suit your needs more than nicely...

However, if you want to explore the smartphone realm, the 6620 would be a good place to start...

If you just want to wow your friends, who being part of American society think the RAZR V3 is the pinnacle in phone technology, get it then. It's just an old phone in a new body is all...

I would have said 6230 was an excellent first phone.

Very intuitive friendly menu's, exceptional speed.

Yeah I think for a "just a phone" the 6230 is better.

I think i picked the v3 because it has that special aesthetic appeal.

My black v3 made my friends (who bought the silver one very early) quite annoyed and wanted to get one.

the 6620 is an upgradable symbian operated smartphone. the other two are closed platform non smatrphones. it really depeds on what you are going to be doing with it.

Thanks for all the info guys. I have now ditched the rebait laiden deals of Amazon and the crappy minutes of cingular and am going to fly to california to get the Tmobile deal with 1000 minutes plus free nights and weekends for 39.99. I will get a free phone with that deal and ill ebay it for 50-100 dollars. Ill use that money plus some of my own cash to maybe get the RAZR from a store near me for 200 dollars, or a 6230i from Expansys-usa for ~330 dollars. I would ideally go for the K750 becuase I have a PSP and the memory card would be compatible as well as the fact that I dont have a digi cam and the 2megapixel might suffice, but 450 is too much. If yall have any suggestions im still open for discussion. Appreciate the help.

Awesome carrier choice:D Although i don't understand what you mean by you're gonna fly to California to get the T-Mobile deal...

The RAZR is VERY expensive w/o the carrier subsidies that allows the price to go down to $200...it'd be twice as much w/o it. (I say very cause it's WAY overpriced for it's worth:p) /edit/ actually not twice as much... The K750i would be an awesome choice...if you could wait for the price to drop down a little or if you splurged...the 6230i would no doubt be a wise alternate.

Price checks:
RAZR
-expansys-USA $369.95 (+$5 for black one)
-ctinyc.com $345 (+$10 for black one)
-mobilebee.com $364.99 (+$20 for black one) (additional rebates w/activation)
-myworldphone.com $315 (+$4 for black one)

NOKIA 6230i
-expansys-USA $329.95
-ctinyc.com $334
-mobilebee.com $329.94
-myworldphone.com $309

SE K750i
-expansys-USA $434.95
-ctinyc.com $415
-mobilebee.com $429.99
-myworldphone.com $375

wow that K750 for 375 sounds good, but is that company (myworldphone) trustworthy? They only have a few reviews on resellerratings.com

I can get the Motorola V3 at a store in my town w/o contract, unlocked for 200 and the black for 230. Unless I was told wrong by the owner, thats the price.

And regarding the Tmobile plan, its only available in california, so when im there on vacation ill pick up then plan with my friends local address. Also they will change your number and billing address to anywhere in the states whithout losing that plan. The only plans that you cannot change the number/billing address on are the "grandfather" plans.

Ill just be in LA.

Its too bad Tmobile phones really suck becuase its just gonna be a hassle selling that free phone on ebay. Its terrible too ... its a samsung x475. Ive never liked samsung phones.

How much? I'm very tempted to get the 3220...as a secondary phone of course:p Do you think you could hook me up with a deal for the Nokia 6620? (with your guy with the $200 RAZR)

morffius

Ill ask him, but when I was asking him prices for other phones, they werent very good. he says it all depends on the demand / supply of the phone. I asked about the 6230 and it was up around 280. On ebay the 3220 is ~140, so id sell it to you for 100 plus whatever shipping you want to pay for.

Wow that's almost a 6620 on eBay...I'll pass:p
