Would anyone happen to know if T-mobile would unlock a phone from a different carrier? I'm looking to buy a Samsung P207 phone off of Ebay but the ones that are already unlocked are too expensive. I read somewhere that unlocking a Samsung phone is harder than say a Nokia. I just really don't want to end up paying $400 for a phone simply because it's unlocked. It only costs like $200 in the stores and that's without all the discounts.
Thanks to anyone who can help me out. :)

T-Mobile wouldnt unlock a phone from another carrier. And they probably wouldnt have the unlock code. You have to call Cingular and ask them.

I heard though that Cingular's stingy about giving unlock codes, so I don't know if I'd count on them.
@TheZodiac If it hasn't been less than 90 days since your last unlock request, then just give T-Mobile the IMEI and they'll email you the unlock code along with the instructions in a day or two...

getting an unlock code from us (cingular) takes an act of god and persistent badgering for months. we have a guy locally that can reflash just about any phone if he has the software. look around locally for these kind of dealers to see if they can.

In Ireland when people spend over €130 their account they HAVE TOO give the code.
So most ppl here just pay someone to unlock it or spend €130 on their account to gat the unlock code.

i work in a t-mobile calling center. we do provide unlock codes for every carrier except for at&t. policy is one unlock code every 90 days and you need to be in service at least 90 days before we'll issue one, but we can and will do it. takes about 24 hours.

EVERY carrier in the world should do this...although T-Mobile already does it for free after 90 days of being a customer...

EVERY CARRIER?? No way...like, in US or globally? I love T-Mobile even more...lol why not AT&T though? Heck, if it was globally, I'd buy the Vodafone 702NK in a snap...:p not really
