Hello, I was wondering whether I should wait for the next sony ericsson P-series or get a P910 for free. Are there any other pda phones out there that are comparable, besides the treo 650?

You could try for the Nokia 7710...although I've heard its slowness makes it crap. I would get the P910 for free, then sell it when the next P-series comes out...

hm i like how the p910i looks though...it looks the best compared to all the other smartphone pda/phones out there in my opinion...haven't really read any reviews of the 7710...lemme go check out mobile-review.

If you are getting it for FREE.. then I think there is your answer. GO for it.

I-mate Jam or Treo 650. The p910 is good - but it's so "yesterday".

cheers!

Well, do not judge a product base on what i call "Initial Specs"
Jam sounded good, untill u played with one. It doesn't deliver the same performance as a XDA II does, even though they had the same processor. 400mhz is not very good coupled with a 64MB ram for PPCs. Play with the two of them and you'll know why.

Other than that, take a wild guess and try imagine urself using a JAM and you wanna send a friend one picture fro ur album. What's the usual steps one might thought of? Go to that particular picture, try looking around for a 'Send' option right? Well, thats not the case with PPCs. You actually hav to go to BT manager, pair devices, create a folder for ur friend's phone using one of the supported profile, then drop the pictures into that folder for sending out stuffs. That's total bull**** if its about user-friendliness.

And besides, the lack of a proper, easier keypad/qwerty makes JAM not really that good for a mobile device either for SMSs/ blind dialing. I would say the bigger brother, XDAIIi with it's qwerty, is more user friendly than JAm.

Specs doesnt tell much about a product untill you actually use them. And as a phone, both Treo650 and Jam wasn't as good a all-rounder as P910 is. My second choice would be Treo650.

Lastly, say only if; you've used all three of them, even a Treo600 doesn't matter, but say only after you practically understand all and you've used them. I know you usually dont prefer SE's product, but i can assure you; P910 comes out the of the group if it were pitch againts Treo650, Jam and 7710. Treo650's the best performer here if it were just speed/PIM and software robustness. Jam's the best multimedia performer. For all rounder which is great for every aspec, P910's still the choice. Because 80% of the time, its calling/dialing and SMSing.

P.S, view a picture taken from digi cam, with P910 and Jam. Put both aside and drool over P910's marvellous screen. I dont believe its screen is good untill i do a test with P910 and XDA IIi.

yeah, I really like the design of the P910...are there any drawbacks with the calendar or organizer features?

true enough.... anyway, I have just only recently tested a Jam for a few minutes (not actually the Jam, but it's european cousin, the O2 XDA-mini), and I found it easy enough to use. Of course, I should've spent more time with one, but my initial impression was that it wasn't slow or hard to use at all.

I haven't had the chance to use a p910 for a long time, my bro borrowed it... but I do have a p900 with me. Anyway, at that time when I did have my p910 - I wasn't that particularly impressed with its screen. It seemed bluish at times, and the speed isn't that much improved over the p900. (some images even had "ghosting").

I did however got to spend a little over a week with a Treo 650 - and in my opinion, it's better than the both the jam and p9. Maybe I am a bit leaning towards Palm apps (having owned the m505, and number of tungstens)...but I do like stability, speed, and ease of use, of the Palm OS - better than Symbian's UIQ.

Lastly, but not least, is that between the 2 (treo and p9), the treo had consistently good RF. Even in places where the p9 had 1 bar left of signal - the treo had more than half.

cheers!

Yup, i agree that P910's signal werent the best. Regarding speed, yupe, P910 wasnt as fast with the other two. And its my fault that i didnt further explain on my comments of mini being 'slow' ~~ it's actually not slower than p910, but alot slower than XDA II~~
