View Full Version : MSN Messenger on K750i?

Hi,
this is perhaps a stupid question, but does anybody know if there is an MSN Messenger compatible software that can be used on SE K750i? I used Agile Messenger on my 7610, but I can`t seem to find a version for K750i. Perhaps this is not possible since it is not a smartphone?

Agile messenger is available as a JAVA(J2ME) version for K750i(or other java phones) but for some reason you cant download it from thier site. after alot of research, i read somewhere that the JAVA version of agile messenger is only available through mobile phone operators? .....why? that's the million dollar question that i could not answer. i even did a search for it on several P2P and i came back with nothing.
if anyone knows anything about it, please let us know!
also you could try Xmessenger, but it's not all that great, and has an odd way of signing on!
edit: here is one of the links...

it says agile messenger J2ME

the ringing is very loud, i usually set it to half volume. the ear piece volume is good, but not as loud as my previous Nokia's, loud enough for me though.
overall the K750 is a great phone.
going from S700 to K750 is the best investment you have ever made! :)

I have now tried several MSN J2ME clients for mye K750i (cMessenger, eMSN, UMSG), but with no luck. All of them install ok, but I am not able to connect. Has anobody found a MSN client that works on K750i? Any help is highly appreciated.

SE sucks when it comes to SMS storing, in my inbox the max i got was roughly 60-70 SMS! :(
my Nokia 6680 had 350 SMS on the memory card and it never gave me a warnning to delete!
SE should enable users to store SMS to MS......for god's sake i have a 1GB MSpd!!!!!!!
also as far as MSN messenger J2ME on K750i. i know htere is Agile Messenger J2ME but it's no hwere to be find. www.agilemobile.com says it can only be had from mobilr phone providers(pre-installed?)
if anyone has or heard of where to get AgileMessenger J2ME please let me know A-S-A-P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOTE: all the MSN messengers out there, that are J2ME(java) based suck donkey d!ck! so dont bother with them unless you get your hands on AgileMessenger J2ME.

like i said my main complain with SE phones is thier message storage! last i remember i had 50-60messages in my inbox and i was given a message to delete messages orelse i wont receive incoming messages in my inbox. did you say 200? that could only main inbox+sentbox=200
there is no way both can hold 200 messages each!
SE is great, but they need to work on minor funtionalities such as that!

More exactly Inbox+Outbox is ~ 210 (new record). But of course, there is a "delete all" button for those who don't concider every SMS received and sent as important and need to be preserved for the after world. ;)

i know its not d case in usa n some other countries... but i think its safe to say that in 75% of world, SMS is BIG, when i mean big, i mean everyone uses it to some extent, n at least 30% of that market sends more than 50 sms per day!!! thats d reason motorola is not a success in most asian countries as its built acc to american needs, where they dont sms much due to higher cost of sms'. As a result d MotoE398 saved sms only on d Sim card (Max 25 on 32bit)
At present i pay Re.0.5 per sms, thats USD 0.01, there r ppl who pay even lower!!! d rate for a call is bout d same, so usage is very high!!!
So if SE n others needs to catch up, they need to rectifiy this "IDEOLOGICAL DEFECT" or Nokia is gonna continue as d undisputed King!!! They should see what the customer needs and not go waste just trying to be "different"

Man, in a small device such as K750 a storage space of 210 SMS (in+out) is enought for the wast majority IMO. There will always be a small fraction, which have more specific demands for one or the other reason (e.g. too lazy to delete). But for those there are other phones.

Actually, the real bugger i had with SE phones, are actually not the SMS 100 limit (which already buggers me ALOT!) It's the stupidity of SE leaving out the Calendar systems to not include a 'Repeat by Day/Week/Month/Year' thing..... which in the K750, phonebook has this function for birthdays (which is by YEar, of course) WHYWHY WHY? calendar needs more attention than remembering someone's birthday right?

Hey buddy even if i talk bout my country (INDIA) alone... only the upper middle class families (the ones where at least 2 members of a family own a cell phone) is more than the ENTIRE POPULATION OF USA!!!
Im not trying to strike up a fire here but just stating facts.
As i said very few countries r not engulfed by d sms boom!
Ppl prefer to sms rather than email, as its faster and although email is free, d cost of d sms is nothing comapred to d time saved n convenience it offers!!!
Also, im concerned bout INBOX storage n ability to store sms in folders. So thats only 60-70 max, n its crazy!!!

Hey Marwan, thanx a lot buddy!! that really helped!! it seems Nokia needed a kick up it's arse by SE to realise where its going wrong, but they seem to be back on track... As for SE (sadly) its making d same mistakes Nokia started making 1.5 yrs back, taking the customer for granted. And no matter how much i love k750, im glad SE is again being relegated to d backbenches!!! Every company that is not up-to-date with what d customer wants... deserves nothing else!!! Hell they still aint offering more than 510 contacts, and d multi-character search is still not available in k750s sold in Asia. VERY SAD INDEED... SE u lost a fan in me!!

What have the population of india to do with whether the SMS storage limit is a problem ? I stated that its probably just a fraction of all users that concider the SMS limit as a problem and that has nothing to do with whether they are heavy SMS writers or how many that lives in India.
So thats only 60-70 max, n its crazy!!!
Please, get your facts correct. The storage space for SMS is 210, not 60 or 70 or 100.
BigBadBoss
06-24-2005, 01:43 AM
Hey Pal, all im trying to say is that the ppl for whom sms storage capacity of SE is not a problem is the smaller fraction!!! and not vice versa.... and today the largest markets for Mobile phones for any company is India and China (due to their huge population)... where SMS r dirt cheap, and therefore usage of SMS is very heavy!!!
so SE should pay heed to such markets and give ppl what they want or they'll never be No.1
BigBadBoss
06-24-2005, 01:46 AM
I do have my facts rite!!! 60-70 is INBOX capacity!!!
and thats what i need more of!!!
210 is total SMS storage.... i dont care how much it stores in sent items
Do read my previous posts... and you'll realize i said 60-70 is INBOX storage
Hope i cleared any doubts

But you see,
the storage space of 210 is shared, there is no particular part of those 210 dedicated to inbox to my knowledge and if it were it would be fifty fifty. If you can't store more than 60-70 I guess the limitation is your SIM, not K750.

Are u sure 210 is shared memory??? So if my sent items is empty, i can have 210 sms in inbox?
thats possible only if d SMS r stored in d phone memory and not SIM card memory (where 25-30 on 32bit n 60 on 64bit is MAX)
What does d k750 do by default? Save on SIM or Phone memory?
Is there anyone who can PLZ confirm this??? No guesses plz, becoz this is d only reason that stops me from buying this phone.. but its d most important reason for me!!!!

That is my understanding. But I have not been able to confirm that yet. Exact number of stored message can probably vary depending on size of SMS messages and how many concatenated messages you have.

i think the program your talking about is for the P900/P910.
the problem is not the content in my messages, it's the annoyance of getting the message to delete messages every few days. when on my Nokia 6680 i've had over 300 messages in the inbox, 80 messages in sent box, a couple in draft and saved messages folder. and not for once did it ask me to delete any messages!
this is a basic feature that should be in SE phones, why cant they give us an option to save messages on the memory stick? WTF? i got a 1GB MSpd for pics and MP3s mainly, but i would also like to put it to more use!
and btw, regarding that messaging program, moving messages from phone to PC and PC to phone is hassle is all by itself! pfffff!

anyways, ALL phones have bugs at first, thats why there is this thing called firmware. i just got my 6680 firmware upgraded and no problem here(never had problems even on the old firmware). one of the cool things on the new 6680 F/W is that it makes the phone run faster, specially cursor movement and opening files. :)

hehehe it wud really b funny if that wud b d case but no im not a p800 user...
i got d p910 as a gift for my uncle so i keep playing around with now and then
but is there a price diff between the 6680 n 6681? which is better? if price is identical?
if there are no probs with d phone, i dont mind buying d blue one :) i love d new activity screen Nokia has come up with
but y d hell did they have to skip d RADIO !!!!!!!!
(AGGGHHHH I CANNOT BELIVE THIS, I TYPED YOU A LONG REPLY, THEN MY BROWSER CRASHED BEFORE HITTING THE "REPLY BUTTON", NOW I HAVE TO RE-TYPE EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN  HERE I GO AGAIN)
the difference between the 6680 and 6681 is that 6680 is 3G and has twin cameras, one in the front for video conferencing on 3G, and one on the back with a flash behind a sliding cover
6681 is the same only it doesnt have 3G, so no front video conferencing camera. it only has the same rear camera like the 6680 with flash behind a sliding cover.
the second minor difference is,
6680 comes in light blue color(which looks more silverish to me) and the other color is bronze-ish.
the 6681 comes on white(WHICH I LOVE SO MUCH, but nokia doesnt make it for the 6680 :( ) and it also comes in the blue one you mentioned(i call it electric blue), too youthfull for my taste.
the 6680 wieghs 133g, while the 6681 wiegh 130g :)

hahahaha i know how that feels man!!! painfull!!!
but thanx a LOT for takin d trouble to replying again!!
really appreciate it!!! :)
we dont have 3g yet in India, so thats useless
but will check on d white color u recommend... i havent seen d electric blue in person, but it looks cool on pics!!!
any other phones u think i ought to check out before jumping in for d 6681?
my priorities r
SMS, excellent RF quality, Compact Size n weight, MP3, excellent screen n amazing sound (ringtone), i do use most organizer functions too!
Although d price is not an issue... i really wud love it i dont need to waste money over my phone!!! i mean i buy it at USD 500, and its 450 in a week!! that hurts man!!! no-one shud under-estimate d value of money imo!
thanx for ur reply in advance

since there is no 3G in india, then get the 6681 since both phones(6680/6681) have EDGE(enhanced GPRS, fast download/upload stuff)
SMS is sexcellent on the phone, cant get better, RF is superb! size is nice and compact, not like K750, but it's still small(but then again K750 has all those issues remember? lol), wieght it's light, excellent MP3 playback good loudness on earphones. speaker phone is very loud. earphone is very loud too, i usually set my volume to quarter max. ring tones are extremely loud too.
it's got good organizer features, plus you could add plenty more software. there are tons and tons out there!
Speed is fast and responsive, i just upgraded my 6680 firmware and it's quicker than before. but you have to understand, just like PCs or computers, the more you have on it, the slower it gets. but i'm talking when you have TONS of stuff.
internal memory is 10MB, it comes with a dual voltage 64MB RS-MMC. dual voltage 512MB RS-MMC just came out, and 1GB is on it's way. :)
goodluck!
......i'm tired! ....LOLz!!!

your welcome :)
i'm 30. bronze looks nice, but a bit too dull for me. if it were grey or silver it would have been nicer. but different strokes for different folks!
my friend has the blue 6681 you like, i mean i like it, but it's too loud and flashy is what i mean.

I have now tried several MSN J2ME clients for mye K750i (cMessenger, eMSN, UMSG), but with no luck. All of them install ok, but I am not able to connect. Has anobody found a MSN client that works on K750i? Any help is highly appreciated.
Have you made sure that your Java programs use the correct internet profile and not an MMS profile?
Menu -> Settings -> Communication -> Settings for Java(tm)

Thanks for your reply.
Yes it checked out correct. Has anobody found a java-MSN that works on K750i? I use emessenger on WAP at the moment. It works, but it`s not very easy to use.
