There seems to be a new surge in gprs messaging. Its cheaper for text outright without a plan, and at least at home (back in the states), the data plans are now becoming cheaper than bundled text/picture plans. why pay 25 a month for unlimited/text and picture, when for the same price, i can get unlimited text (that isn’t restricted to the 160 character limit), and unlimited pictures, that are not hindered by dysfunctional MMS, which gets delivered about 50% of the time. not only do i get messaging free, but now i can check my email and browse the web. i'm using Netomat (http://m.netomat.net), its been working great. Why does it seem like no one else has jumped on this trend?
check it out, m.netomat.net
let me know what you think? osmium109@yahoo.com

Because regular SMS/MMS is easier because it's already built in to the phone...you have to remember, especially with us Americans, that if something isn't already there, we're not likely to try and add it on. Yes, data plans are cheaper, but also, not everyone is even on a data plan! I'm like one of the few people who actually have unlimited GPRS...text messaging is fine for most everyone. Not everyone even takes up the alloted 160 characters, so that point is moot. Plus, it's not like everyone's using picture messaging...
