After a long weekend with the K750 I can honestly say it is the best all rounder imaging phone I have ever used.....The N90 shots are barely better and that ghastly barrel mechanism is will kill poetnetial sales....
SE - finally a big fat feather in your hat !!!

Even then, I'd still prefer S60...if not the N90, then the N70. IMO, that's a better comparison than between the K750i and 6680...
In response to Chingar, yes, I think the K750i is fugly, no offense to you, rohan123, but I'm just saying...the W800i looks better out of the two. Nice pics, although they look grainy, but that could just be the compression. Wonder how the prints would turn out...btw, nice Land Cruiser:p

no such thing, Etisalat is the only phone service provider in the UAE.....for now :)

i had mine for a while now and not a single hiccup. it hasnt even restarted once, everything is working perfectlyl well :)
the only thing is that i have multiple numbers saved under one name on my sim card(on my nokia 6680), so when i put it in the K750, only the first number shows up! i dont think this is bug, but i would like to know how to retrieve the other numbers.
anyways, i recommend you get the phone, definately the best SE phone i have ever owned.

looks like marwan and i got the phone almost at the same time. i too got it from axiom for 1630 dirhams
Apart from the 2MP camera wot else is upgraded on the K750i? I would actually invest on the W800 rather than jump onto the K750i bandwagon.

upgraded from wat model? the k700? well in that case then
memory stick pro slot
262k screen
faster menu
new fast port.
thats about it. but its cheap so its ok.
dont bother with the w800..its coming out same time as the n91, get the n91. its specs are much better if youre willing to wait.

Hi,
Could anyone help me in choosing between k750i and z800 (and maybe Nokia 6230i)? I use the phone mainly for voice call, and average use of sms.
My most important requirements are (sorted by importance):
1. Voice/sound call quality (loud enough to hear on noisy environments, but a good bluetooth headset may solve this problem)
2. RF Signal (this is the only reason why N6230i is up there with the 2 SE, because a lot of people said that Nokia RF quality is the best)
3. Loud ring and sms alert tone
4. Very fast and responsive menu
5. Good Contacts/Address Book (min 500 names with multiple fields and a large sms memory so I dont have to delete my inbox very often)
6. Good/comfortable keypad
7. Solid build quality (I carry my phone on my trousers pocket)
8. Bluetooth
9. IMAP4 with attachment support (doc, xls, pdf, jpg)
Would like to have, but not a must:
Good MP3 player (stereo, I rather have none than mono)
Decent calendar with birthday reminder
What I don't care for:
Video
High specs camera (VGA is the maximum I need for casual snapshot)
Games
Screen size/resolution
EDGE/3G (no operator offer this service yet where I live, I guess it won't be happening soon either)
pretty/animated interface
Size and weight (as long as I can operate the phone with one hand)
Thanks.

im not gona read that buy from wat i like id take the k750. z800s colour is boring plus its fairly outdated. its using hte old port, 1.3mp.. nothing really fancy
marwan
06-02-2005, 07:53 AM
6230i has super fast menus, so maybe you should go for that, but the only thing is that it only suppoerts 512MB MMC max, where as the K750 supports 4GB MSpd and the V800 support MSpd but im not sure if it goes up to 4GB, 1GB for sure though.
the thing is K750 does lag a bit when the phones has alot of files on the memory stick, specialy in the phone gallery.

Thanks Shaheen and Marwan,
I guess it is now only between k750i and n6230i. I actually like clamshell because the main screen is protected, but I think I agree with shaheen that z800i is quite outdated, although it has just available where i live a few days ago.
By the way:
1. Is the RF quality of nokia 6230i is really that far superior than k750i?
2. I have heard that k750i incoming sound quality on voice call is a bit weak as well as the ringtones (on .mid/polyphonic). How bad is it? And is n6230i also wins in this aspect also?
Thanks for your fast replies. This forum really is helpful.

lol, it has evolved from the K700 vs 6230 to the K750 vs 6230i. Except this time i think there no question that the K750 is the "better" phone.
Well, i wasnt considering buying it to be honest. I have a PDA2k and to be honest, there is nuthin more i cud ever want in a phone. So i am one happy camper.
Its jus that the K750i costs AED 1630 accordin to forumers here. The K700 costs AED 850 now, so is the extra 800 bucks worth the price? I mean the 2MP cam is awrite but the other improvements dont seem so significant like the 262k screen....i mean for such a tiny screen, even 64k is fine n i dont even think unless u closely observe u will be able to make out a difference. The fast port...ahhhh wot the heck!!! The pro support i agree is a plus....is it hot-swappable btw?
Still, i jus dont feel its worth 1630 bucks. I have a friend workin in the Axiom Central Warehouse and he told me that Axiom are buying them from SE for AED 900!!!! That means they are making a profit of AED730 on each phone. No wonder they have over 100 stores in DXB. On a side note i was also told that the P910i which was first bein sold for AED3000 on launch was actually purchased for AED 1400 from SE....Mannnn i shud get into the mobile phone busines!!!!

Size-wise... which is bigger... K700i, T630 or K750i? All I know is that the K700i is little bit wider than the T630.
How about the K750i's keypad? Is it similar to past SE phones?
I have a friend who bought his unit in Hong Kong (haven't seen it) and he said, it's not very attractive physcially but the camera is awesome :)

the K750 is hotswap, and the gamera is not alright.....IT'S F'UCKING BRILLIANT!!!!! best cam on a phone i ever seen.
it also has faster menus, i agree on the unnecessay 262k screen, but then again everyone is mving to 262k.
also you cannot compare an imate to a cellphone(k750), the imate does alot more people for people that want the extras, if not they're better off with the K750, or atleast a symbian series 60 phone.
last i checked the P910 at Plug-In is 2100 dirhams.
oh, and all imate camera are total horse sh!t!

Can't u write anything negative about the K750i??? :D
i noticed a bit of lag when going through gallery with high res pics. zooming to pics in viewer mode only can be done when in horizontal mode and it's a bit slow. profiles are customizable but no where near as customizable like the series 60 phones(6680 for example). lack of good java application doesnt make as expandable as series 60 or any other smartphone. when sending mms, you have to go through a bunch options to select add text, when on series 60 text is by default under the mms pic. thats what i find negative, but it could all be over looked, it's a great phone! :)
one more thing, when charging the phone the plug occupies the whole pop port, so you cannot charge and listen to MP3s since the pop port is occupied byt the power plug. :(
2 other good things, the phone can be charged using the USB cable when pluged to the PC :)
overall the best SE phones to date. :)

after 6-7 charges, the battery is great, much better than i expected. though my 6680 lasts a bit longer. it's all good though!

FYI, more colours produce much better text too if done properly.
Text smoothing techniques are apply on almost every modern OS to smooth the text on monitors which have very lower DPI as compare to phones.
If the display somehow looks nicer that another similar screen with fewer colours, then the phone is already taking advantage of the extra colours.

dats wat dats worrying me... it's stupid...... and when i saw the pics of the port, the one with two edges sticking out significantly, i find it's stupid.... why not retain the usual design? and if they were gonna change it, why dun they go USB with it? just a USB and a 3.5mm jack would make the world a more beautiful place...... :)

yeah, major flaw on SE's part. Hell, i dont even think changing the port at all was necessary. Memory card readers are VERY cheap, and they dont require you to download any software.

Another question on MP3 quality of K750i. Is it comparable to 6230/i? better or worse? Through speaker & head phones.

you can lock the keypad, but i dunno about a security keypad.
MP3 sounds great through headphones, the speaker phone is ok, a little on the thin side compared to my Nokia 6680. sorry i dunno much about the 6230.
i never had any problems with RF on any SE phone.....though i keep hearing people mentioning it....i honestly think the RF is just fine, no problems here.
regadless, K750 is the greatest phone that SE has ever put out, and this is coming from a Nokia fan :)
Pics quality looks good to me! :D

marwan and other k750 users-
1) are their timed profiles (the sort nokia use in their series 40 phones) in the k750?
2) ive played with a non working model and the sliding lens cover at the back seemed a little on the flimsy side to me. any problems here?
and i too would like to know if their is a security keyguard or a way of locking the phone with a code...this feature is becoming more and more neccessary as phones improve on multimedia.
the 6230 played audio in stereo loudspeaker mode amazingly well. if the k750 matches it then it would be awesome!

marwan, i know you absolutely hated the S700, but i really need an unbiased answer...(and any other K750 users who might know of course!)
is the loudspeaker on the K750 as loud as the S700? LIke when playing mp3's? Cause i think my S700 is nice and loud, but i dont want to go out and and but a K750 to find out its not as loud. And also, can you zoom in on a picture once youve taken it with the K750? And can you save the portion youve zoomed in on as a separate pic? thanks

hur?!~ could that be done in S700?
marwan

you can zoom onto the pictures on the K750 unless you're viewing the pics from the gallery on horizontal mode. it's slow in zooming, but it doesnt bother me since i dont use it so much.
and no you cannot save the zoomed portion. there is a picture editor though.....though i havent tried it yet.
and no you cannot zoom into pics on the S700.
S700 loudspeaker sounds better than the K750. but the K750 is a billion times better phone than the S700

And also, can you zoom in on a picture once youve taken it with the K750? And can you save the portion youve zoomed in on as a separate pic? thanks
hur?!~ could that be done in S700?
lol, yes you can zoom into the pics once youve taken them on the S700. You con zoom in on the 1280x960 and 640x480 pics.
dat i guess was our dialogue right? i dun think we could, so i try to verify; and it ended up u dunno whether i know what you are talking about, or that i wonder u know what did i dunno about right?! :D

o, if youre talking about zooming in on a picture on the S700 once you taken, yes you can. You just press up, and a red box will appear. Once you zoomed in on the portion you wanted to see, you can save that as a separate picture. If you zoom in on a megapixel image and save the portion you zoomed in on, the zoomed in portion will be saved at a size of 240x320.

and no you cannot save the zoomed portion. there is a picture editor though.....though i havent tried it yet.
marwan, what kind of K750 you have, which cannot save zoomed portions of (saved) photos?
Just read and learn here my illustrated explanation, post #4:

g'day juetenglord (why not gloriagate? he he!)... i'm in Manila. I just got mine this morning from Memo Express. The owner is my brother's friend so when he told me that it's officially out, I quickly went to the main office and bought one for P24,000 (USD 428) with warranty and the latest f/w... R1J002 :) I have a friend who sells mobile phones in Robinson's Place for P21,300, of course without warranty.
Guys, I've been playing with my K750i and so far, these are what I've noticed so far...
1. From standby mode, the joystick (d-pad) doesn't work (I thought it crashed), I have to use the other keys instead. In my T630, I can use the joystick.
2. Is the time really visible when the phone is switched off and charging? I thought the phone was switched on but apparently, it's not.
3. In camera mode, the "settings" & "view" controls are horizontal. Is this normal?
4. Won't the slider thingy to open the lens of the camera become to loose in the long run?
5. I thought the K750i has 2 slots for the memory stick. It only has one, he he!
6. The flashlight is cool :D

In Greenhills or Robinson's Place, they don't have any warranty. If there's warranty, maybe it's only for one week. That's why the cheap price, the catch is there's no warranty.
Follow-up questions:
1. How can I rename the pictures taken from the camera? I can't find the "rename" command.
2. Is it alright to take out the memory stick even if my phone is switched on?
3. So the K750i uses a Memory Stick Duo not the Pro one, right?

3ple4,
1) First of all: You can't rename pictures saved in the folder where the pics are stored after you've taken them. To rename them you have to move them to another folder on the phone. Once you did that you can rename the picture via 'More' - 'Manage files' - 'Rename'
2) No Problem
3) The K750i uses both MemoryStick Duo and MemoryStick Pro Duo. I use a MS Pro Duo 256 mb card in my K750i.

My name is Andrew and I'm from NYC. A friend of mine in my class was showing me a phone that she got for her boyfriend, the K750i. And i thought that phone was really neat because of all it's features. I wanted one too, so I asked her where she got it from, and told me she got it from MyWorldPhone. So, I went home and decided to check out MyWorldPhone.com I've seen a lotta phones that I liked there, K750i was the beauty. I've compared the prices for K750i in stores, and other places, and the best price was at MyWorldPhone. In stores it was about $500. And In MyWorldPhone, it was $375. So that's a good deal huh? On other sites on the net, the prices were above $400. I love that phone, because of the sharp pictures it takes. I love that phone because of how compact it is. I jusst love that phone. People, I got it from MyWorldPhone, check them out, they're great. I've saved a lot of money, all thanx to my friend Stacy. Thanx stacy.

based from your conversations, it seems that w800i will be out nearly the end of this year because of that duo pro & duo issue, since w800i will be coming out with a 512mb mem stick pro duo... does anyone here can confirm if k750i can really acquire features of w800i like offline mode&batt capacity up to 30hours by just simply updating its firmware same to w800i? is it really possible? does online update allows this procedure? thanks... an info about it will be much appreciated,......

as simple as i can explain it, k750 will acquire all FW UPGRADES of the w800 if flashed with w800 FIRMWARE. FIRMWARE only.

You considered lucky for its very cheap! 300USD is m'sia's average monthly salary, and in Malaysia, 1GB sells for around USD 240. 2GB? around USD 500 i guess.

edit: actually, just checked on ebay, and can get it for $116.80 including tax, shipping, etc from a seller with 100% feedback. not sure if they ship internationally though.
