No one ?
hmmmmm strange...
Ok I'll give you some info into these new phones.
There not Dct 3/4/5 etc - They are a new system called BB5 !
The ONLY way at the moment to get this unlock is via the network it is locked too, Vodafone etc.
Patrick Murphy from www.phonexpo.net (http://www.phonexpo.net) got his unlocked via Vodafone, it was unlocked by code the same way any other Nokia is unlocked.
Any questions ?

as it happens i know a guy that's working on some software which he says can already unlock some 6630's. the version i saw isn't 100% reliable but he reckons it's only a matter of a couple of weeks before he's cracked it completely.
we'll be selling the software at first but i'll post it here for free soon enough.

Both the Nokia 6630 & Nokia 6800 are BB5 series phones.
There is another way to unlock them BUT only one person in the world is doing them other than Nokia, Vodafone etc...
This person cracked the Nokia BB5 lock method about 5/6 weeks ago, BUT he's keeping it to himself and he is been flow around the world been paid MEGA bucks to unlock 1000+ units at a time.
There are numurous unlocking teams trying to work with this guy to get the solution from him, BUT he's going to make his money first.
And the rumour is, is that when he does make his millions he'll release the solution to these unlocking teams for FREE.
@3gpeasy
Good for your mate that's working on the solution but someone is doing them already. You said his solution isn't 100% so obviously he has hardlock some units, what is he going to do with them ?

I read in some other forum a while back that some guy was going around the world unlocking large numbers of 6630s but there no one believed him that he was serious, perhaps that's this guy then?
Does anyone know if the new 6280 will be BB5 also, or is this only for S60 phones?

Is there any updates regarding the solution to unlocking the nkia 6630?
Also, if you did try the (not 100% compatible codes/software), and locked your phone by inputting the incorrect unlock codes x5? What next? How do you rectify that problem?

So Jacob....does this mean that the link you have on your posts regarding "free unlock codes" is not correct unlock codes for the Nokia 6630? This is the model I have...input the IMEI number, UK and Vodafone and came up with 7 numbers. Have tried 2 already and came up "invalid code". The Help Section says this is for a DST4 mobile phone...is that incorrect? Is the Nokia 6630 actually a BB5 as you stated and I should not even try to see if any of the 5 remaining codes I have are going to work? Thanks for your help!

The network do have a standard charge for an unlocking code. Vodafone Ireland charge €127 for an unlock code.

Hi all, i got a 6680 off ebay locked to three and only after paying have found out that you cant unlock these at the moment. Until i stumbled upon this http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/jaf.htm if the equipment is available to unlock these phones why is everyone saying they are unable to be unlocked??? Is this new and how long before the shops that unlock will have these. Is this just another scam?
Thanks Lee.

6680 could not be remotely unlocked. No one could generate codes that would unlock it.
whether its a scam you may have to discover that at your own risk.

No the equipment is not a scam, I have the Jaf device. It does what it says. It doesn't say that it unlocks it. I also moderate on that companies forum. The cables are special cables (7 pin) which will unlock the BB5 Nokias when they release the method.
See below a screen shot of my Jaf Box, you can see the (Un)Lock tab is greyed out.

I have an unlocked 6630, the guy who had it before me had it unlocked via phone network company.
On this phone is a really old firmware version, I asked nokia if they would upgrade it."Yes no problem" they said but it would cost £20.
They then asked me if it was unlocked, I said it was.
They said that upgrading the firmware would lock the phone back to the original network, damn!
Is this true?
If it is, is there any way to upgrade the firmware on unlocked 6630 without re-locking back to the original network?
Thanks

If that was Nokia, they lied to you. Upgrades are free for one year. Upgrading the firmware doesn't lock the phone.

I would have to side with Jacob...first of all, the N70 is a BB5 handset, and not DCT4. Secondly, because it is BB5, it can't be unlocked except by a few willing carriers and one guy in east Europe...not by any random phone shop and definitely not a guy at the mall:cool:

Hmmmm..... an interesting development...
I just phoned 3 (UK) customer services on the premise that my next door neighbour (eBay) was giving me his phone as he was moving abroad. The handset was on 3pay...
The question?
Will I be able to use this phone on another network if I don't like 3?
Answer.....
Take the phone to the Carphone Warehouse and they will unlock it for you to use on another network....
Hmmmm..... interesting... might have a bimble up there tomorrow and find out if that's the case...

No, the network code lock is specific to that network and that country. Occasionally (and in the past) you might have had Virgin mobiles and T-Mobile/One2one working on the same handsets because the MCC+MNC code is the same. For Vodafone UK I think it's 23415. Those first three digits determine the country code, for Netherlands it's 204 (Vodafone NL is 20404). Basically, it won't work unless you use a Vodafone UK sim card, and that kind of defeats the point...

i have been reading the comments and replies in this forum about unlocking 6680 phones.
i have a nokia 6680 locked on the 3 network.....
well today i contacted 3 and told them that i wanted to have my phone unlocked ........they said if i was on a monthly contract i wud have to wait for my contract to finish , then they would supply me the unlocking code for it for £15 , and if cancelled my contract with them before my contract expired i would have to pay them a termination fee........which in my case was £160 plus the £15 for the unlocking code.and they would contact me within 7 days with the unlock code for my 6680.
well...today i have cancelled my contract with them ........paid them the termination fee plus the unlock code fee and will wait for them to phone me and give me the unlock code.
one thing they did say was that when i input the unlock code into the phone i have to have a active sim card in it ........
so lets see what happens now ...i will give all u buddies an update as to how i got on hopefully by the end of next week.

Out of interest, why would you pay £160 termination fee given you can get a new unlocked 6680 from eBay (or the like) for less money than that? I am curious to see how effective Three's Customer Services are in this case, they aren't the best at times...

Hi All
I had a 6680 locked to 3. As 3's customer services go, I thought they were very efficient. I called friday morning to cancel my contract and to request for my handset to be unlocked. I had to pay £15 for the code and was told it could be up to 7 days.
Sunday (today) I just received a call with the code and it worked a treat. 2 days for a code I have been waiting 12 months for previous.
Do you have a forum where working codes are to be posted for the clever people to try and crack? If so I would be happy to provide it.
carcomptoy
04-30-2006, 11:37 PM
The thing with unlock codes is that it's IMEI-specific, and obviously right now the formula still hasn't been cracked, so there isn't something to gauge your working code against. Unless Jacob_Stevenson says otherwise, to be honest, I don't see the point of posting the codes...
Congrats on getting your 6680 unlocked!!!:D

Hi to all the buddies here,
well i have got my 6680 unlocked, 3 supplied me with the code, they phoned me up and told me the code to input ...after inputting the code it said sim card restriction off.
i tried my O2 sim card in it and obviously made a call or 2 and it worked .
so now i have a 6680 unlocked and open on all networks .
the only downside i am facing now is that i cant get rid of the 3 logo screensaver ,
have tried to change the screen saver to something else but it wont let me do it .....any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
if any of u buddies want to try the unlock code that was given to me .........i have made a note of it ..........let me know and i will put it on here.

Hi,
I received a Nokia 6680 as gift from a relative visiting the UK. The handset is locked to 3 and when I contacted them about unlocking the guy told me that I had to pay 15 bucks + outstanding amounts if any... But he also told me that for the unlock to be successful, the handset must be in UK with the original 3 sim card.
I am ok with the fees to be paid but I just wanna know if there was not a way that 3 unlock the phone outside UK and without the original simcard (coz I don't have it :-) )

You don't need the sim card, you can type the unlock code in without any sim in the phone.

Short answer no. You could be on the moon and type the unlock code in and it will work. :)

The codes for his phone won't work on any other phone.
Jacob, you are saying that the phone should automatically prompt you to input unlock code without the sim being inserted? What if it doesn't? What if it loads straight but offline info is displayed? Last, how to check if you ran out of allowable input attempts? Is there a message displayed? thx!
_______
Oh and also.. If the phone is locked to 3G network for example, then would anyone who is on a 3G network and has a 3G simcard will be able to use this phone?

The phone won't prompt you for an unlock code. You can't check how many attempts remain (at least not to my knowledge). If it is locked to a 3G network, no, it won't work on other 3G networks apart from its home network (in your case Three UK).

No, as said before this is a fake. People selling this on eBay are scammers. It is a mod of a standard calc. That's why it does strange things like blanks out the ASIC select box and only gives 3 codes. If you need more info read here:

New News !
6th Jul 2006, 03:45 PM
Since old method for SP unlocking was not secure to make a BOX (simple f-bus
scaning can break method), new method have a litle more protection to implement in a BOX.
Prototipe is tested and it works for now with:
6280 v3.70
6630,6680,6681 v 04wk47_m_v14 9-2-06
n70 v 5wk07v41 8-2-06
In theory it can work with any nokia rap v2.xx,3.xx, etc.
Solution using box, dku-2 cable, and some TEST POINTS on phone boards.
Phones have to be 100% in working condition, with at last 1 secondary try left for entering SP unlock code.
So if there is interest boxes will be available in few months.
Test box will be in few days given to Boban,Vasa,Toma,.. so those
who have to unlock phones can do that in a same day in Belgrade.

Hi,
I bought my nokia 6270 in Vietnam and is using it here fine.
I m coming back to Canada soon and will be using Fido (or Rogers Network).
I m just wondering if i need to unlock my phone before I come back to be able to use it there. I have asked people in Vietnam but they have no clue what's a sim lock is and they said it will be okay to use it anywhere in the world as soon as they support GSM 850 900 1800 1900.
I really don't know what I should do.

What networks are charging £100 to unlock them? I got hold of my network 3uk and they told me they will unlock my N70 later for £10.

Hey all yes the title is right
the specil #pw+ code
I have a 6280. It asks me for the code, but when I try to enter a code, it lets me enter # but I cant enter letters...
#pw+02********78811+1#
What is pw?? Is that litterally the letters pw I have to enter. It doesnt let me change to text mode to enter that. How about the "+1" at the end?? Is it litterally +1
On my old nokia phones if I kept clicking on a number, the letters would appear but not on this one.
Any help, or unlocking news on 6280.
