hi there, which is the better cellphone camera tech? CMOS or CCD?

Here's a look at 2 very popular Digital SLR's.

First is the Canon Rebel, which has a very high quality CMOS sensor.

The second is the Nikon DSLR, again has an equally high quality CCD sensor:

... since both of these camera sensor technologies exist in cellphones nowadays, which one do you think is the better one to have? What are the advantages or disadvantages of one versus the other?

cheers!

well, i'm not an expert on camera technology, just want something that takes good pics without taking up too much space in the phone and making it huge.

phone that does that best IMO? K750i.

so CMOS.

yes s700 has very nice pics, but look at the size of it

well, the N90 has a CMOS sensor (as it says here:)

... and based on what I've seen so far, it IS the best.

the k750 CMOS cam is comparable, if not the same, but then.... Sony Ericsson has chosen to replace that cmos cam with a ccd cam. (starting this August).

anyway, I think that the sensor is just one part of the camera.... it would still depend on how the manufacturer implements it. Like the Canon and the Nikon above, both can turn out excellent photos, there's no consistent difference between them - so noone can tell exactly if its a cmos or a ccd unless they look at the specs.

cheers!

I think we've been over this before...as long as it's high quality, both should turn equally high-quality pictures. CMOS just has the reputation of being the inferior one because they're cheaper to make and they were used on the first cameraphones, which of course had horrible picture quality:cool:
