It's just you.

It is so late to the game that it might not be significant anymore.

I played with a D700 in Q1 of this year. Q2 of next year for hitting the market is insane.

I was reading somewhere on some other forum that this phone was discontinued and that they will not be producing this phone. I was so disappointed when I heard this, cause I love samsung and Samsung w/ symbian = sexy & smart. two deadly combinations.

On the Mobileburn website itself under the Panasonic X700 news, it says 'cancelled Samsung D700' so does anyone actually know if it is cancelled or not? I would think a Symbian clamshell smartphone would sell incredibly quickly - I'd definitely want one, especially with all the features it has.

Yes, Samsung announced the cancellation of the D700 a while back....

Yeah, thought so but wasn't sure exactly when. Any ideas why? It seems that all the decent phones are either cancelled or come with glaringly obvious omissions... the fact that Samsung showed an operating one does make me wonder. I think it would even be fair to say that people would pay a lot of money for it, as it would be a premium product - so surely that wasn't the issue?

I'm not sure why. I was told that the D700 wasn't coming out by my Samsung rep, and I'm sure I read something on it being cancelled (officially) but I can't seem to find anything.

Most likely the problem was technical.

I thought they'd demo'ed it at CeBit 2003, there were photos of any operating device (MobileBurn have them too), or is that not necessarily a release-candidate model? Ah well, either way it's a shame, still it would be nice if they surprised us with one around the summertime...
