You know I was just wondering about that and after waiting for some time I just thought and voted for the s700i (Rotating)

actually, the best form factor for a phone to retain its large screen, full sized keypad, those sort, would be a slider, or a rotate one. But a slider is a tad more practical than the S700-form factor.

communicator wise, to be both pocketable and retaining a large touch screen. I would say nothing beats a Pseries' orientation. (Just imagine the highly aclaimed Treo 650's qwerty thumbpad works the way Pseries does, ain't it a marvel?)

oh..oh. better still, a n series phone with slider design :)

why? more than 70% of the time, it will be a candybar. :) It is a PDA only when u removed the flip.

Provided u're consideration of the classification of these phones as : The form where a user can access its full functions?!

There's no end to this, personally I'd call it a PDA coz I used to remove the flip and carry it around.

oh... come to think of it........ how bout 9210? 9500 and such? .... .Danger Hiptop?I should have had something for the communicator form factor, but it still would fall within the realm of PDA.

well, IMO, the list should go :

CandyBar (K700, 8910)
Clamshell (Z600, 6260)
Slider (7650, D500)
Twister (S700, V80)
Laptop (9500, Danger HipTop)
PDA (iMATE Jam, Neonode)
CandyBar-Touch Screen (Treo600, P910, Xplore M28)
GameBoy (N-Gage, Zodiac)

We couldn't just classify a P910, 9500 and HipTop + 7710 to PDA, just because their capabilities were out of the realms of normal phones and they possess the so-called 'Real Input Methods' thingy. All phones possess more or less the same functions, but we classify them with different 'form-factors' therefore, IMO this 'form-factor' do apply well to PDAs, smartphones or communicators as well. :)

cheers~ :)

oh ya, the reason why 8910 ain't regarded as a slider, is because it doesnt behave like one. Sliders should possess a large screen which covers a reasonable huge portion of the frontal part, which forces the keypad to be placed under another portion which slides out to reveal. 8910 still posess the screen above keypad design. :)

hhhmmmm...... transformers eh? well, the N90 wasn't so much of a 'Transformer' if it were to be put aside to a XDA IV.

well that would be subject to opinion. I think theres more moving parts on the n90 so more options to change into something else (physically being able to move more not actually being another "set form" like pda mode, notepad mode, closed mode):D

yupe, dats the one. I wonder if laptops would sell if these machines went to 2Ghz, 1GB ram, ATI Radeon graphics, 40GB HDD, able to run softwares meant for PCs and so on. These are future laptop killers. Oh, and of course, battery charged with microwave transmitted from station towers. (Japan had similiar tests and results were positive. OMG !

Depends on fast one can type with the tiny keyboards on a pda. Fast productivity and comfort could be key, and you cant deny the full keyboard of a laptop. Then again, ultraportables are popular and it only takes a little time to get used to the small sizes.

yeah they would sell, but it would certainly be expensive at this size. ALSO, when this reaches that capacity, most people's needs would have increased, and the surrounding lap tops also would have increased, so the higher price for what will be then, a mediocre device might not appeal. But thats just looking at the downside.

Probably the majority of new things will run on 2GHZ, 1GB RAM and all the other stuff you said. So yeah, LAP TOPS would still sell because many people would still want a large screen combined with compatibility.

Unless they somehow make a fold out screem which folds out to 15, 17, 19" and back (remember those super thin clothing screens developping for the army ...or something like that...they could use it there:D) but damned expensive

hhmm... how bout small screens, but with special glasses that help users to focus on the screen and everything appear larger than they were, changing how a 4" screen would looked like a 16 incher~? :D

Then that should come with a warning "FOR HEAVENS SAKE DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN WHILE WEARING THESE" and a comprehensive health insurance policy. :o

or holographic projection and motion sensing: so you can put the phone on a table, project a 3D UI environment above it and interact with it.

that WOULD be cool
