Does anyone have a Vertu? If so, could you post pics? Also, how much are they? Am I insane or is one really $19,000 USD?

On the Neiman Marcus website, the most expensive, a Vertu Signature, is priced at $8,300. Why not just look at the pics on vertu.com?

ah! $8,300 for a phone. Insanity. Live pics are more realistic and the ones on the website make them look like gods.

from mobile9.com..30,000 USD

This thing is not a mobile phone, but instead a “Communication Instrument". Nokia Vertu which was introduced way back in 2002, costs USD 30,000. According to China Radio International, the device will be available in Chengdu, China soon. Features:
nokia vertu

* Comes in 5 choices: Platinum, 18 carat white gold, 18 carat yellow gold, stainless steel and gold, stainless steel
* Strong sapphire crystal and titanium surface to provide extra protection
* Keypads are made of ruby bearings
* Retractable antenna
* Leather around the side of the handset
* 400 mechanical parts and 20 exclusive patients
* Assembling is done by hand

Pretty impressive, but definately not for the average Joe.

That's like saying "$10,000 for a watch!" about a Rolex. These phones are more like fashion/status accessories which is why you don't find them on the shelves of a high street phone shop.

the most costly thing about vertu is not the phone. It's the Vertu Concierge service.

What's the concierge service?

basically you press a button on the side of the phone and someone from vertu aswers, who'll then sort stuff out for you; daft stuff like "where can i buy an elephant in walthamstow at 3am" mostly

well, it's made of gold, isn't it. so it's going to be expensive.

but it's still rubbish.

it's more or less like: (for example you're in Malaysia)

You press the button, and tell the concierge service that you gotta be in Italy by next tuesday for a meeting at Milan around 2 p.m. --> THEN, the next day, some chauffer will arive in maybe a Mercedes the next day, picked you up, arrive in the airport, where a first class ticket is already booked for a direct flight to Italy, upon arriving there, another chauffer will bring you to some poshy 5 class hotel, (yes, the room is also booked) .... basically they do all your secretary does, with the exception that this secretary had international roaming...... (yes, you pay for all the hotels and stuffs if i'm not wrong)

basically i read this from mags, not really sure of the details thou~

or if you want to buy an elephant...

yes it's like a good PA for free. which is why it's £8k or more, still a snip compared to a decent PA.

but a rubbish phone, nonetheless. if only they did the service as a purchasable option on, say, a 6680, it'd be nice

That would be better, because honestly, other than the top-grade materials, this phone's crap (for the price)...it's just S40 isn't it? And there's not even a camera...

wow! thats cool! Silly people with a plethora of cash!

I was watching on MTV the Maybach had it too...people from Maybach answer...but it was more useful because you actually need to know where certain places are.

seriously though, when someone is super rich wouldnt you like have no need for a phone.

ud just go "James (some entourage/butler guy) - call the wife, tell her ..."

or at least have a super custom phone made. But I spose again when ur that rich you wouldn't care to have all sorts in your phone cos ur more interested in bigger things

yeah, like we're all into phones cos when we've bought a new phone it's one of the coolest things we own.
and they're more into the gulfstream jet they've just bought. or 90-foot yacht. or pacific island.

when you have a 250 - 500 ft yacht you can affort to have helicopter pads so you can fly to Monte Carlo and watch the action from above!
