ASIC stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit.

As far as I know, the Nokia 1100 is a DCT4 class phone with ASIC type 2.

Well if you use some unlock software, how do you actually find out what ASIC type you have? Because if you select a different asic it also gives you different codes.

you need to know that from model of nokia, but its better to let the pro does this for you... you have a dedicated forum about where you can get your code for free.

Also, there are some general rules to follow for DCT4 phones.

All phones are ASIC 2 apart from:

* Symbian-powered phones (except the latest ones like 6630 and 6680 which is unknown if they use a different ASIC type or are a new generation, i.e. DCT5) are ASIC type 5
* Nokia 6230 is ASIC type 6
* Series 40 3G phones (7600 and 6650) are ASIC type 7
