Hi,

I just ordered a S700i on contract from o2. Should arrive next week. But i have been reading online forums and i feel i might have made a bad choice. First off, i have a nokia 6600 and i am very happy with it (except it is a bit chunky). How does the s700i compare in size to the nokia 6600?

I also have the following questions which i have looked in forums about but differnt sites say different things:

1. Can you set mp3s as ringtones?
2. Is there no way of watchin movies in full screen? if not what is the size it allows you to watch them in?
3. What is the maximum time you can record video and audio? Anyway of makin it unlimited? (until the memory card fulls up)
4. On my nokia 6600 i could install apps can you do this on s700i? (i.e. i had apps to watch movies, record unlimited video/audio, n-gage emulator and update the camera to 1.6mp digitaly with more zoom)
5. What would i need to use the s700 as a GPS nav system? (on my 6600 i just needed route66 and a bluetooth gps reciever)
6. How would you rate this phone on scale 0-10? Would you recommend i cancel my order and get a nokia 7610 or 6630 or samsung D500 or E800 instead?

Thanks for any replies. Hope some1 can answer them all in one go :-p that would be a great welcome to this site!.

Cheers.

Hi,

I just ordered a S700i on contract from o2. Should arrive next week. But i have been reading online forums and i feel i might have made a bad choice. First off, i have a nokia 6600 and i am very happy with it (except it is a bit chunky). How does the s700i compare in size to the nokia 6600? * I think that the s700 is longer (especially when the bottom flip is rotated out) and is heavier than a 6600.

I also have the following questions which i have looked in forums about but differnt sites say different things:

1. Can you set mp3s as ringtones? *yes, I think so.

2. Is there no way of watchin movies in full screen? if not what is the size it allows you to watch them in? *not sure, but I think you cant.

3. What is the maximum time you can record video and audio? Anyway of makin it unlimited? (until the memory card fulls up)* this is a feature of sony cyber**** digicams... but on the s700, think it can record just a few minutes(?). Lets hope an s700 owner will answer this.

4. On my nokia 6600 i could install apps can you do this on s700i? (i.e. i had apps to watch movies, record unlimited video/audio, n-gage emulator and update the camera to 1.6mp digitaly with more zoom) * the s700 isn't a smartphone, all those apps you mentioned (which are symbian apps = .sis) will not work on it. However, if you can find java applets that will let you do the same, then it might work with the s700. (it supports java).

5. What would i need to use the s700 as a GPS nav system? (on my 6600 i just needed route66 and a bluetooth gps reciever) * this service might be both phone and network dependent. Is that app you're using on your 6600 a symbian app? If it is - then it wont work on the s700.

6. How would you rate this phone on scale 0-10? Would you recommend i cancel my order and get a nokia 7610 or 6630 or samsung D500 or E800 instead? * I dont speak for everybody else, for myself only, I'd give it a 5. I'd also highly recommend that you get either a 7610 or a 6630 (which are on your list), so you'd be able to enjoy all the apps you're using now with your 6600.

Thanks for any replies. Hope some1 can answer them all in one go :-p that would be a great welcome to this site!.

Cheers.

cheers too!

1) yes, but not message tone
2) u cant watch them fullscreen, its rather small actually (174, 144 i think it is)
3) minutes, im not sure of the exact time cos i havent tried it, but its not 'unlimited' like it states
4-5) answered
7) id cancel the order, get the 7610 or 6630 or even wait till the 6680 comes out on the site. the phone IMO isnt worth getting when u can get a smartphone for the same price and can do alot more

Hope this was of sum help to u

Wait. 3230 had good specs, and costs less. Why? cos there will be certain performance, camera quality drwabacks. I assure you. But, if there's no point for u to go 3G, 3230's quite a nice choice. How bout 6630?

And if u want a S700, i would say why not K750?

Yeah, S700 had a lot of imperfections. Except for the stunning good looks, and picture quality.
