The SGH-D700 from Samsung is coming out *soon*.

Some sites are taking pre-order for it, but that doesn't say too much about when it will actually arrive.

Samsungs site only hints that it will be out in Europe before Xmas... let's keep our fingers crossed ;)

Thanks for the info michael, I'm actually more interested in a smart phone running Palm OS than Symbian. does anyone know if theSamsung SGH-i500 supercedes the SPH-i500 or are these two phones likely to come to the UK market at the same time.

Well, any SPH phone will not work in England.

SPH is a PCS phone (CDMA on Sprint, usually).

SCH is a CDMA phone.

SGH is GSM.

Has anyone heard anything about Moto's forthcoming A760. It's a clamshell with 65k TFT touchscreen and camera. It's got Ir, Bluetooth, is quadband. USB, Handsfree, JAVA, video capture WAP v.2, GPRS, and an email Client. The folder front is transparent so it doesn't have two displays, but that would make it cheaper anyway. The best news is that it uses a Linux OS

I'd really love to know rough release date, and rough cost.

Clamshell? Anyone heard of Mitac Mio8380? it claimed itself as smartphone that will be positioned to match the SPV, I heard that it soon (October or so) gonna be released to the market (incl Europe by the end of Q3). It equipped itself with Intel PXA255 200 Mhz., with Microsoft Smartphone 2002 OS (well, yeah it's not the PALM OS), 65K Transflective TFT LCD w/LED Backlight (16bit per pixel), 32MB ROM/16MB 100Mhz SDRAM, works on GSM 900/1800/1900 and GPRS class 10 devise. it has everything, except BLUETOOTH..!

I did a write-up on the Mio 8380 here: http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=274

Since then, a lot of pictures have been released, but it looks huge, possibly even bigger than the NEC e606.

It's about the size of a GD/GU 87/88 but is a little thicker.

With regards with Paul's post to the above mentioned model, has anyone gathered any information about it? The release date was supposedly Q3 this year but so far no sign yet..... Its the one phone I'm definitely saving up for ..... :)

Heres my wish list for a smart phone:-

1. GSM
2. Clamshell form
3. PDA functions
4. Touch screen for inputing data
5. Bluetooth
6. Voice activated dialing
7. Vibrating alert
8. Flash memory storage slot
9. Swivel screen
10. Integrated camera
11. Built in stylus

I know it sounds a bit like a miniture Sony Clie with a top notch bluetooth enabled phone, still, the following all have some of the above features unfortunately none has them all.

Samsung SGH-D700
Samsung SGH-i500
Motorola A760
Mitac Mio 8380

Anyone know of any others on the way which gets closer to my perfect smart phone .

I may have found my dream phone (see above)

The Samsung SGH-i505

It looks like this phone may be released instead of the SGH-i500

The SGH-i505 will run Palm OS 5.2.1. and will have a clamshell design, with a screen and application buttons on one side, and a keypad and D-pad on the other.

It will use a "twist and flip" screen that can be rotated and closed down over the keypad, allowing the device to be used in a tablet configuration.

It will definitely use virtual Graffiti. .

It will have a built in camera capable of taking 640 by 480 pixel (VGA) color images, an SD slot and a swappable battery.

I can't wait !!!!
