Hi guyz my cousin bro runs a mobile store here in Sri Lanka.. he said me that there is a guy to unlock 6630 but he charges USD 200 .. yes its TWO HUNDRED!! US DOLLARS!!! :mad:

yep yep.. i wonder how did he find da way to unlock it.. its BB5 or watever da new version.. ppl say its hard to unlock..

I asked the phone "technician" about it just the other day (when I was accompanying my friend who's getting 4.03 for his 6630)..... he told me that it IS hard to do. Virtually impossible for version 4.03. But if you're running 3.45 or below, they can unlock it. (I'll double check, to be sure...). He mentioned that you have to flash the phone twice.

ok guyz wat if we completely flash da fone where they hav blocked it.. so it will b erased rt..

ok guyz wat if we completely flash da fone where they hav blocked it.. so it will b erased rt.. Im just guessing here... but maybe that's exactly it. Maybe the reason why they need to flash the phone twice is to first erase whatever's inside, then they flash it again, to replace what was erased?

He's charging a lot of money because Baseband5 phones are virtually impossible to unlock completely.

i have an unlocked 6630, if i take it to upgrade the firmware would it lock the phone back????

nope.

unlocking and upgrading the firmware are two different things.

I am ready to pay $200 to unlock my nokia 6630, as I am really tired of finding solution for it, :( I want to talk with the guy who is willing to unlock 6630 for $200

I suppose it would have been easier to get it unsubsidised in the beginning. Sure, more expensive at first - and you might not get it before your buds, but then, you wouldnt have to worry about unlocking it either.
