Hi....guys...My cousin sent me a phone which is an Audiovox CDMA 8900. Will my phone work in the Philippines. If it will is it with EXTELCOM or are there any CDMA service provider here in the Philippines? Thanks for your replies and help. :)

It might work, but it depends on your location. The Philippines is mainly GSM, and if you want the best coverage, just get a cheap phone there that's like $90 and a prepaid SIM card that's like $3...it'll be so much cheaper. Besides, if you wanted to roam internationally and keep the same number, you should've gone with T-Mobile or Cingular...

Yes there actually will be...I forgot there's a website for CDMA, in the same fashion for the GSMAssociation. There's future plans for 3G CDMA...I barely found out there was iDEN in the Philippines this year. That was a total shocker!

What's iDEN..???? I've heard that EXTELCOM will launch their CDMA services in the Philippines later this year.

iDEN is the technology Nextel and Boost Mobile run on...it's based on TDMA technology so in some respects its somewhat compatible with GSM. Wherever there's no iDEN service, you can still use your Nextel SIM card and use it in a GSM phone...which I think is pretty awesome:D

As for Extelcom, I've heard about it before, but since I'm not in the Philippines, I don't know much about it and plus the website's being retarded...
