Yeah, or just transfering whole songs themselves.
These tone links are great for people though who probably haven't got the skill to be doing that/patience/facilities, as simple as making ringtones may seem.

How do you change and operator logo?
Also, does hard reset also remove the settings that the network provider embedded in the phone?
carcomptoy
03-16-2006, 05:44 PM
FExplorer is the best way to change operator logos...you pick a suitably sized picture, and while its selected, you go to 'Options', 'File', and 'Set as operator logo'
No the hard reset does not remove the operator settings...that has to be done by reflashing the phone:)

03-16-2006, 11:08 PM
Thanks man, now how do you reflash a phone?
And how do you change the screen saver image? My network modified my screen saver and it's so crappy.

I tried before that and it never works on my 7610 for some reason. My logo is always o2..
And how do you change the screen saver image?
You can get an application that uses your own images as a screensaver. Not too sure when the network changes it.

I tried before that and it never works on my 7610 for some reason. My logo is always o2...Did you try to do it manually...copying and pasting in the phone's folder? I can't seem to find the specific folder on my 6620, but I used to do it all the time on my N-Gage. You didn't even need an actual operator logo...I had a random Lexus sign ad from the WAP news site as my operator logo!:pAnd how do you change the screen saver image? My network modified my screen saver and it's so crappy. My 6620 had that too...stupid AT&T logo. Try changing it in Themes in the 'Edit' menu...although all you can change it to is either Date & Time or Text. If you want like animated screensavers and such, then you'll have to install the applications like Jose_R.A.M. said...

eh? I thought all i had to do was pick an image and click set as operator logo?
It doesnt bother me though , cos ive grown attached to my o2 thing. Its transparent and quite small and so doesn't really affect my themes which if this had worked it would have.

03-17-2006, 02:44 AM
Yeah the harder way to do it is to copy and paste the image onto a specific folder...I forget where it is but yeah...then you rename it so it's the MCC+MNC.bmp (i.e. T-Mobile USA: 310_260_0.bmp)...then just restart and it should show up:)

On a 6630, you can. A friend of mine had his 6630 on 3 unlocked but the screensaver was left and he couldn't change it. He went back to the repair shop and they changed it for him. So now, instead of the 3 balloon - he can put in any screensaver he wants.
I assume that this will work too on the newer S60 phones.

I have no idea. Anyway, there are 2 ways to do this - one is to install the Psiloc screen changer app (or another screensaver program), or the he other way is to do it manually. I think that Apoc has a link on it on his site (on changing screensavers on series 60's...). I'll try to search for that and post it here. In the meantime, those gif's above can still be used by 2nd/3rd edition series 40's as their screensavers.

I recommended my friend to check out the links for freeware for his N70, only to find out that many of the "free" software aren't free, some links even contains illegally cracked versions... So, can someone please clarify which are the FREEWARE?
Hi Shun.... they're not free? I think some require the site to send them to you? If that's the case, then just right-click on the wallpaper and "save as" the file to your PC. Then upload them later.
mmm... about the cracked files, could you please ask your friend to point them out for me, I'll gladly delete those links asap.
thanks for the info.
cheers!
ps. in the meantime, if that site is really not free, then just dont download anything from there... I mean, it's not like anyone's being forced to download all those stuff, right? Just go to another site - surely, there's lots of other choices posted here that's useful.
Take Camera FX for example, it is selling for 10 GBP at http://www.wildpalm.co.uk/CameraFX7650.html, but of the many cracked files at <link to illegal files removed>, there is a "CameraFX_v1.3.1_cracked_lvckyluke"...
The problem is he don't know who is right, since there are people who actually sell freeware, so not sure whether WildPalm owns the software or not...
Most sites points to shareware, eg. http://soft.mobilesmania.com. There is nothing wrong with linking to them, just that he is looking for freeware, quite tedious to differential them. Anyone can help?
PS: forced or not forced to download, I believe the site's owner wouldn't like links to cracked files, still have to take precaution when posting links, :D

thanks for pointing those out, I'll get on them rightaway, and delete them. (Pls delete them from your post too).
thanks.

edit: deleted already.
Done.
Still can't locate the freeware, :(
Just notice that the previous mentioned link is still present at post #62, and more cracked files are present at link removed too. Please check.

thanks again Shun for pointing that out.

The link to cracked files is still present at post #62, Link Removed
The more I look into the links, the more illegal contents are found. Please double check on all the links, some games sites also contain cracked files or key generator, eg. Link Removed
I think I'll leave it to the moderators and administrator to ensure that MobileBurn isn't promoting illegal downloads, while I've to look for freeware somewhere else for my friend, :)
Shun - If you find any links to warez sites, please PM a moderator, and don't post the same link again.
Will PM in future. Please moderate this thread closely, and users must be warned that they are actually using illegal "free" application if found. Thanks.

<Info obtained from baniels of Howard Forums>
Nice app, thank you, but will it work with other phones thats not an N80?
Should work on any S60 V3 phone. Remember though it a simple one touch operation, and since in most others its only two buttons to lock, it might not be considered as useful.
If you want an autolock program then here (http://my-symbian.com/s60v3/software/applications.php?fldAuto=70&faq=1) is autolock, which is also freeware.

MEDIA STUDIO for NOKIA® 2.5
Blazing fast DVD to Nokia transfers. Put a DVD on your cellphone in less than 40 minutes. Enjoy tv-series, home movies, and even feature films on your Nokia mobile phone and watch them in great quality, in full screen landscape mode.
http://www.makayama.com/images/mmmnokiapromo.jpg
A memorycard as small as 128 Mb is enough to store a full length feature film, or up to a hundred minutes of other content. Take your video's and movies on the plane, train or automobile, watch them on vacation, at work or at school. With only two clicks, this PC software converts the content of any video file (AVI, MPEG, DivX, etc.), from any drive (harddisk, CD, DVD, removable) to a super small movie, which will play on any Nokia Symbian device, from a postage stamp size memory card. You can use a headset or the built-in speaker to listen to the sound. Subtitled and foreign language DVDs are also supported. You wil have to see the quality to believe it, using supreme MPEG4 encoding, feature films look crisp and sharp on your cellular phone and still fit on a relatively small multimediacard.
trialware only. (but it works).

I like smartmovie better... but if you're short of memory card space, I think this'll suit you better. A dvd could take up more than 200+ mb of a 256mb card when using smartmovie, this one makes it all fit in a 128 card.

mmm... use a card reader then transfer the contents of the 64mb card to the 2GB card. I think aside from the program itself - there are some registry files that need to be transferred, in order for it to work. (these are usually in "hidden" folders in the card).

I tried transfering it, but I couldn't find the files. And I have my Windows Explorer set to show all hidden files.
mmm, Im stumped... usually that method of file transfer works. Maybe there's something in the phone or program that prevents it from being transferred to another card? Like a "read only" file?
I've done this a number of times already - like when im about to use a 1GB card, I copy everything, as in *.* everything in the 64MB card to the newly formatted (by phone) larger card.
Then when an app or program don't work, I uninstall it (thru the App Manager, or by FExplorer), then install it again. Usually that does the trick.

The reason why you get that is probably bcos the apps are not the S60 3rd Edition compatible ones.. (that are reqd for Nseries like phones), and hence, they would work only on older Symbi phones like 6600, 6620, 6630, 6681, 3230, etc.. :)

LiveTone Video Player is a FREE videotone player and manager for S60 (2nd Edition). There is a 3rd edition on it's way. The application plays 3GP files on incoming phone calls. You can assign a default video to unknown callers or assign different videos to people in your contact book. You can import 3GP video from your gallery, or create and share your own video tones with LiveTone Studio. Here is a link to the free video tone player.

Written by Eugenia Loli-Queru on 2007-01-28 09:11:20 UTC
It's been about ten months since the first S60 3rd Edition SymbianOS smartphone hit the market. Nokia made a lot of changes to the underlying OS and broke compatibility with the ~1800 S60 2nd Ed. applications that were already available. Ten months later, there are about 220 applications for the new version of S60. This is a small list of the Top-10 freeware applications for your new S60 phone.

Opera Mini 4 Beta Mobile Browser Now Available
Today, Opera announced the launch of the beta version of the Opera Mini 4 mobile browser solution. The browser will work with all Java-enabled mobile phones, and is a complete redesign of the web browser. The new overview mode featured in the browser claims to "empower people to browse their favorite websites, just like they do on their PC."
Opera Mini 4 claims to be twice as fast as any other mobile browser, and has innovative features such as "zoom". The browser works by using a remote server to pre-process web pages before sending them to your phone, where web content is then compressed to reduce the size of the data transferred, thus creating fast browsing at lower costs.
It can be downloaded for free at: http://www.operamini.com/beta.
*note: tested on n73me, e65, n76, n95

umm... may I ask what your phone is? Some phones, like the N95 and N91 8GB for example, all have 8-band equalizers built-in, and supports multiple playlists... so their generic mp3 player is quite good enough, imo. There's no need for a 3rd party app... but if you still want one, do try to search around this thread... Im sure you'll find one.

Hi thr,
i hope to get a gud Stereo player. in that matter i may need som ehelp from u all!! i have nokia 6630 and i have UltraMp3 but its a monoplayer so i need any othr one!
thnx in advance for helping me wid this!!
Shas..
Hi,
The 6630 is already in stereo - when listening through headphones. It only sounds in mono when it is on speakers - since the phone only has 1 speaker. Installing a 3rd party mp3 application (like ultra mp3) does not give it stereo sound - it is built-in on the phone.

I`m just going to give you a hint on where you can find really good looking themes cause it seems you can find hundreds but few actually have good looks .
>www deviantart com <
Just do a search for the type of telephone you have (or just _S60_) and i`m sure some deviant user that has it too , allready made some great themes for it .
Hope it helps .. I found some great themes this way (N73ME)
Ignore what else pops up just look for findings in the Mobile Phone Themes .. If you find one you like , check the gallery of that user and he will probabilly have more . Good Luck

Yup, it's the long awaited upgrade. Graphics is definitely better, and it's a tad faster too.
I think Jay first showed it to us here on this thread:

I put in the new nokia maps and did the trial navigation, it was impressive, maybe even better than tomtom. Anyhow, I believe that the navigation really should have been included with the high MSRP of the N95 so I've actually been using nav4all on my N95 and I'm actually ok with it.
oh, it did seem to pick up the satellite faster, it took a long time before but it does seem quickER. There is another thread talking about the tracking feature being lost which is a bummer but oh well.

GPS Photo for Symbian.
So if you have a Symbian OS Smartphone with integrated GPS or Bluetooth GPS you can geotag and upload pictures instantly. This is especially interesting if you are travelling and you would like to upload photos immediately.
Also there are a pc version.
http://www.locr.com/gfx/png/screenshots/locr_Symbian_1.png
Locr is a completely new way of organizing photographs using geographical information. Its many great features include:
- The ability to find photos again much more easily, giving you a clear overview of your photograph collection, regardless of its size!
- Automatic descriptions are generated for every photo based on geographical information.
- Photos can also be shared with friends and family.
Locr is based on photographs with geotags. A geotag provides information about the position at which the photo was taken. Geotags can either be defined manually or automatically via GPS.
Plus: Basic accounts are FREE!

Y-Inclinometer by Dr. Jukka is a simple app that displays vehicle angle while off-roading. Operation is simple; fix your phone in a secure cradle and adjust it so that it is perfectly upright in your vehicle. Then launch the app!

Jukka wants to make sure that N95 owners don’t get too crazy and flip their vehicles while enjoying some off-road fun and this app can be a nice tool. Please don’t do anything stupid like seeing how far you can go to test Y-Inclinometer’s readings - Enjoy this great creative app safely!

OggPlay
OggPlay is an Ogg vorbis audio player for smartphones.Ogg Vorbis is an audio compression format similar to mp3. However the compressed files are approximately a factor two smaller than mp3 files.
http://symbianoggplay.sourceforge.net/
I know this is an old thread but I thought I should clear up one important point here. While the Vorbis codec does indeed produce files of better quality than MP3 at an equal bitrate (or equally good sound at a lower bitrate), that is not the main point of it. The main attraction of this codec for most people who use it is the fact that it is completely free (as in free beer *and* free speech) to use, unlike MP3 which is riddled with patents. Technically, whenever you create an MP3 from a track off a CD or whatever, you should pay royalties to the Fraunhofer Institute. With software such as ffmpeg, oggenc and many others which create Ogg/Vorbis files, this is not the case.
