Anyone know of a follow up to the 910. I want to get the 910 or similar featured phone but its been out a few months now and I figure there will be a new one soon...

Also a side note are there any plans to put WiFi into phones for email and the like when in a wiFi hot spot... guess it takes away from the carriers revenue...

In september we will see it and it will come on the market shortly after, like we experienced with the other P-Series.
It will have 3G, 640x380 display, VGA OR megapixel camera, full keyboard... but no WiFi

Realy? September? better save up...... no WiFi??? that sucks....... they should've come up with 2 versions.... one 3G, the other WiFi though..... and i dun think the idea of ditching the keypad for a full qwertys nice.... they should retain the P910 form factor which i find very very very good. 3mega pixels the rumour thou..... :)

it should atleast support more forms of media files, a 2 mP camera is a must.

Yeah and if it wants to compete with the 9500 it will have to support wi-fi, although 3G will satisfy a lot of people.

Where do you all get all of these speculations from. I am an avid fan of the Pxx series and i think that a new 3g variant would clean up.
However, the company i work for is a developer for SE, not me personally, but we get access to development literature for upcoming devices up to nearly a year before. nothing in concrete but possibilities and possible spec. sheets of what could be. Unfortunately i haven't seen anything regarding a future P1000 or similar, apparently they think that there is plenty of room for the P915 for a while. which is a shame cos if i hae to go back to Series 60 Nokia 6680 i will go mad. I think my 16 year old cousin has pre ordered one. At least i will be able to share ringtones and wallpapaers........

That'll be really stupid of SE, people will loose interest in the Pxxx series.

WiFi and 3G are to must in a new device from SE to remian competitive as wellas increased speed and memory... the form factor is nice as it is.... tho I guess the market they traget is the business market which requires mostly email rather then video etc

i think i might get the 910 i cant wait until september.... my phone is crapping out now and need a new one....

can someone tell me what is the MTBF of these phones? anyone with some deisgn job in the industry may be able to tell me. I have currently a Nokia 3650 and it is dying after extensive use but for 2 years only... extensive use for me is probably about 10 hours per week talk time + bluetooth and email use (30 per day) ...

Jam's abit more expensive than P910 currently. At least where i'm stayin. Jam's RM2699 whereas P910's around RM2500.

I love my p910. The software u can buy for this fone is awsome and even rivals the s60 platform. (When I had a p800 there was nothing!) The camera is pants tho. I dont like windows mobile powered fones as I want a phone first and pda second. Ive owned a motorola mpx200 and an 02 xdaIIs and basic features like group txt werent available  Advanced call manager, sms tones, mum sms, sms schedule and facestore are all must havs on the p910. Wots a p915 buy the way?

*acccthoo* a p915!??! bull!!>!>! but seriously, SE's gonna kill the flagship monarch.
well here at my place a P910 is much more xpensive then a JAM, jams dont have a very good resale market here.

I still hate why SE didn't include K700's camera module into P910.

Hope SE would invite me to give ideas of how the next Pxx should be.... :D

twin camera on 3G or single?

also, will the P1000 have 3G and wifi? or is it wifi and no 3G to seperate the P9xx from the P1000?

I do hope it came with the much rumoured 3MP camera, and not just coming out with 3G only. I would prefer two versions, maybe one called P93G, then the other P9WiFi ... :D i would prefer the screen to be 640x416 though ..... exactly twice the number of the current screen. At best, they better keep the same form factor. And the exchangeable flap better comes with a 'Call' and 'End Call' button whilt the keypads removed. Other than that, i want the normal Sony Ericsson interface with every functionality accessible; then while the flip's opened, Symbian UIQ 3.0's UNLEASHED!! ~~~ HO HO HO HOOO HOHO HO... WA WAHWAAHWAA (Evil Laugther)

everyone get to choose what they want in their phone, and then go for the cheapest one because they can't afford the one they want.

commedecargons
04-19-2005, 12:36 AM
But then it will be very much a high production costs solution for Sony Ericsson..... :(

fabarati
04-19-2005, 04:23 AM
well, i don't htink it will. they will go out and do market studies to see what people really want and produce the more poular models in larger quantities.

haha a.... perhaps PDA phones are passe ? i dunno , the average dude dosent carry a PDA phone around. what the average dude needs is something to sms , make coupla calls in the day and an average or decent camera to take some decent pics. and a phone tt looks good

and people wonder whats nokia is quite succesful :p because thats what they basically produce in 10 - 30 different variant versions

I've raised my expectations. P1000 SHOULD have :

Rebootable switching of OS (Palm Cobalt/Windows Magneto/Symbian UIQ)
16million colors (dats wat digi cams are having) 640x416 resolution (double up)
512 internal mem (usable as flash storage)
Long Range Bluetooth 1.2
Long Range Infrared
3G/EDGE Quad Band
WiFig (54mbs) which support networking between P1000s without routers or something like that
Supports SD/MMC/MS in a single slot (i believe dat could be done)
3.2 mega pixel camera with 3X Optical zoom (Carl Zeis Vario Sonnar lense of course!)
Full SE UI in flip closed mode
Camera Assist Light
FM receiver/ Transmitter
Full accessibility or organizer functions in flip closed mode
Redesigned Interface (ofcourse, make it better to look at)
Same qwerty keyboard but with backlight
2400 mAh battery
Scratch Proof Screen
Carbon Fibre casing
Retain the same form factor!!!!

And i assure SE, they will get more than 70% of the market of communicators!

there's a taiwanese (i think) manufacturer that supplys a phone with 5 different Operating systems. they have the exact same hardware, but you have to send it to them to change plus you have to buy a license for the ones you use. Example: you buy it with linux but you realise that you don't like linux. you check around between the other options (palm os cobalt, windows magento, Motion Experience Interface and their own version of Windows CE) and choose palmos cobalt. you send your phone to them and pey the license fee for cobalt, then you get a cobalt phone back.

Are you referring to the one that preloaded with Windows CE? If so, that is manufacture by a Singapore. It claim to be able to support the 5 major OSes for mobile devices, but it doesn't supply 5 OSes.

oh it was something like Axion or Axio or Axia right>?

fabarati
04-24-2005, 01:00 PM
that's the one. wasn't really sure where they were from. all versions aren't avaliable right now, but when later on you can get it preloaded with the os's mentioned.

I think that the p100 wont be coming this year......

from this thread: (mobile review)
http://www.mobile-review.com/forum2/showthread.php?t=27185

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry, there are rumours about a P1000 and at the moment
that is simply all they are rumours. However, there is bound to be at some point
a upgrade to the P910i and this may well be called a P1000. I would not imagine
though you would see the phone this year.

... course, this is just more speculation, SE could very well surprise the heck out of all of us and announce a p1000 before the year ends. :D

cheers!

FOR WHAT they (SE) would go around admitting there's a P1000 on the horizon when they still wanna sell P910? :D
