Part of the problem is that this is the place amateurs/beginners go to find their answers, since it's on top of search lists. That's basically how I found mobileburn.com...by google or some other search engine, not to say I'm an amateur:p But in any case, those of us more experienced and knowledged have basically just become tech support people, trying to answer questions for people who just think it's too difficult to call the actual manufacturer's customer support....it's only there for them!

IMHO Mobile Review is the best forums for finding information and such... but that's just my opinion.. I was a super moderator for a good 6 months there, but so many users and threads, it's very complicated... that's why I gave up on being a moderator there.

i liked Mobileburn's review more than any other sites. BUT, they're always very very late..... we can see dat michael's trying to get more people to help doing reviews... so... instead of complaining, could u guys just provide some reviews? Maybe those guys with loads of $$$$ from countries loads of Oil and gases could do something bout it? Yeah i think if the site had some more freelancers we could get reviews up a lot quicker. Everytime a phone comes out there are always a bunch of people that get it, so all they'd need to do is right a review and im sure michael could edit anything that was correct and voila.

In india every second person has a 6600... its a very very common phone here... 90% of the people use it as a normal phone.. just like they use a 6610... 80% dont use bluetooth.. Literally no one (except a few people) knows how to connect the phone with the PC Suite... But they still own a 6600... do they know its a smartphone?? NO they dont... :D

Coz Nokia never market them as one. Nokia states business for 6600, entertainment for N-Gage, 7610, 3650. Smartphone for 6630, 6670. Very very good marketing tactic. And here comes 3230 to replace 3650. 6260 for business......... Nokia's exceptionally good at positioning their products and market them without warding off people with adverts which emphasize on 'emails', 'vpn', 'office', 'smartphone' and such..... if u tell them to market N-Gage as a smartphone..... kids are off with Nintendos...

Please bear in mind that many people are first time newbie users to series 60 who have no knowledge about it. It is quite unfair to say that "if you dont understand dont bother trying (which is basically what your post implies).

Is that how you live your life? If you're not any good in something don't bother trying? lol!

I'm not saying everyone should go out and get series 60 phones... im saying those who want to get it, get it. If they want to use it as a normal phone, go do that (Some may be oblivous to series 60 and have no option but to use it as a normal phone).If they want to find something out and learn, teach them. :D

Many people are interested in series 60, but are unsure of how every thing works. I understand that it gets anoying when people ask without searching, but its kinda harsh to tell them dont buy the phone if they dont know how to use it. I doubt that the first phone you touched, you knew how to handle everything about it. But even if you somehow did know, its not fair to assume that others will be as adaptive to new technology as you.

Its ok to get mad, but try to understand. You can see them not using particular things for granted, but is it their fault? You shouldnt get annoyed with people because they have less knowledge about series 60 that you. You should be grateful that you have that knowledge, and just go and help them or whatever.

they will never get this "experience" if they dont try. Dont you think it's good that they have an inquisitive mind and are asking rather than letting it miss out on its potential? When they learn, they can help other people etc.

Mobileburn is a community about phones and its precisely the place to ask for help about it. (maybe better to go to allaboutsymbian or myseries60...) Phone tech supports are too expensive...you dont get to know those people, you cant have a laugh with them...etc :D

lol! :D my parents always say that " a phone is made for phoning and texting"
but then they only ever get the boring phones...it was an achievement for me to convince them to get a colour one! My moms easier to convince, im handing over my 7610 to her when i upgrade...

she used to say , "who are you going to send photos to...no one else has those phones" but then when textin was first out "who are you going to text, no one has those phones...." urgh,...lol theyre kinda right...a little bit. But they dont understand when your inthe "zone" and u are just in to phones u just cant be reasoned with.

anyway...i just have no pet hates any more when it comes to people and phones...ive gone way past caring ( i think, dont quote me, i may find something). I just dont see that theres anything wrong that they have an expensive phone and use it to communicate.

What's the big deal if somebody has a 6600 and doesn't use the smartphone functionalities... I don't get it. It's a cheap phone with all the features you could ever want ( not really but you know... lol )
If the user wants a big screen, Bluetooth, a good camera and chooses the 6600, it's the best choice, even if there's no need for S60.

How do you deal with the taco-talking?
It's getting annoying actually...I though it'd be cool at first, but now it's inconvenient! I can't even prop it against my shoulder to be able to use both hands! So, I've decided to spend the money and get my old 3650 fixed...just a firmware update anyways, but yeah I was reluctant, but I'm really desperate now.

Btw, I was just venting...I know I didn't know what the hell Series 60 was at the beginning, and what was so special about it. I was just, and still am, spiteful of the fact that I who appreciates the platform can't even have the latest of them while newbies get to have it and are completely clueless about it...but I guess it was like that before too. People who wanted the 3650 didn't have it at the time while I had it, unknowing of the power I held:p

same thing here. they got my brother an a1000 for about $450, and he would have been content with a k700, which we could've gotten for about $40-60 (on contract of course), and i can't get a jam for about the same price as the moto (maybe cheaper). and now probably can't get the K700 as well, because Comviq (the provider with cheap contracts) don't give you a phone cheap when you get a new contract anymore. But i'm not bitter at all...
