Ok this may sound a bit stupid, but what actual proper functional use does the edit (pencil) button on s60 phones actually have? My 6630 is the only s60 phone ive had, and as yet, the only thing i used it for is to activate keystick (which i hate). Is there something i'm missing, or is it mainly for program specific things?
my gf really appreciates it to switch between german and english dictionaries with T9. I've used it for copy pasting for appointments and notes and things

type your selected text, press and hold the pencil, move the stick over the word you want to copy and it hightlights the text. when all text is highlighted press the copy soft key (still holding the pencil). then go to the area you want to paste, press and hold the pencil, the paste function will appear as a soft key. WALLAH! copy and paste.

Just worked out how to do it! If you're writing text, hold the edit button then use a direction to highlight, then keeping it held will give you the option to copy and paste!

Yeah I was surprised when I first found out, but it's been such a useful function! Especially if you have to send personalized long messages to different people!

I know a friend who had an ngage, and you could take screenshots on that with the edit button, but i'm not really sure how. Wasnt that useful though.

Well, if it was on the N-Gage, then he did it through the included Screenshots application...is of course to take shots of gameplay, but it is active for anything, even the standby screen

thanks marwan...i've got fexplorer on my 6630...but still cant figure out the screen shots bit ?...how do you work that ?
easy...
do this, run fexplorer
Options ==> Tools ==> Turn ScreenShot ON ==> then hit OK to accept the default "name start with" ==> you will get a message on how to take a shot. from there just hit "0" and "pencil icon" at the same time, and the pic would automaticall save in your gallery.
but make sure Fexplorer is running in the background, do not exit it, or else you cannot take shots. just keep it runnnig, then go the main menu screen to run and take shots of any program you'd like :)
