steps taken to polish it

step 1: remove battery cover and face plate. to remove the face plate you must remove a 4 screws around the screen. then it snaps on and off there is snaps on both sides of the outer screen. then it just pulls up and off. the camera lens just pops out

step 2: take a scotch bright pad and scuff up the oem finish. no need to do it really hard just rub it down

step 3: apply easy off oven cleaner to both parts. let sit for 30-40 mins. you will be able to see the finsh coming off.

step 4: wipe off the oven cleaner and use the scotch bright to remove any leftover finish

step 5: use 600 grit wet sand paper and sand the intire surface in one direction till it id nice and smooth.

step 6: move up in paper all i had was 600, 1500,2500 grits. use the 1500 in the same way but sand it in acroos the grain from the last paper.

step 7: move on to the 2500 and repeat step 5 sanding in the same direction.(remember to use a soft sanding block)

step 8: use a medium grit rubbing compound. it will start to shine keep buffing till you dont notice it getting any shinyer.

step 9: move onto mothers mag alluminum polish and go to town keep polishing till you get the shine you want.

step 10: apply a good car wax to protect the finish

step 11: reinstall the plates and your finished

all i can say is, pimpin!

HOLY Mother !!!! Why would any one do this to a beautiful 600$ phone .. ..

shaheen
02-21-2005, 02:08 PM
because of exactly that, its a 600 dollar featureless phone(practically) people get bored, like the owner of that chromie razor, he himself said he was bored at home so he did it.

why would anyone want to chrome anything? It's so... American... (Goes hand in hand with the "bigger is better" idea. IMO that's a bad thing)

shaheen

i love chrome and bling so its not really american, its personal preference.

I think it would be fairly dangerous to have a mirror like phone and walking around in the city on bright sunny days, you would blind people and drivers as well.

Sweden is a highly americanized country, but it's not the entire american society that's reflected, only some parts. Also, we have alot of Anti-america feelings going round, which makes the reflection america gives a bit weird. (Even though i know it's not like that, i sometimes see the midwest as a place where everyone is a ignorant, christian fanatic)
The things I notice in the americanization is either Ghetto or Hollywood, where theres alot of Bling. In car programs on TV when they show american cars they show the big ones with alot of chrome, not the normal looking ones. The way american cars are presented to us, luxury ones are the same cars, only bigger and with more chrome.
that's part of why i see chrome as american and why I see chrome as something that goes hand in hand with "Bigger is better".
anyway... i still don't like the phone. too much chrome.

So does it bother you if a Volvo has chrome wheels or chrome like parts? Or is that ok now that Volvo is owned by Ford?

I am asking because the phone looks good! And now it looks like a custom phone (Motorola V3 in Chrome).

America is more then ghetto and Hollywood! You should go and see what it is all about! I have been to Sweden before. ;) I would say that it is beautiful! I had such a great time there I would go back any time! I do recommend to my friends to go to Sweden :D just as I am recommending to you to go to America and find out what it is all about! :D

Don’t knock it before you try it because you just might like it! ;)

Hey, the way you see the midwest isnt too far off! All states that voted for Bush  ...proof enough! (that doesnt mean all people from the midwest of course, just the majority)

*...a lot of words...*

Hehe! :D
Everything from America isn't just *bling* *bling*. But I think I know which programs you mean though. So I got your point.

It would be fun to go to the US some day. Just to see if it really is the way they expose it. (And I don't mean just all the *bling*)

I would also like to add this... this phone would be a polished aluminum not chrome... chroming is entirely different process... looking at this thing I just think about fingerprints all over that thing... not too clean in my book....

Wow! Looks amazing. The final look is awesome but I wouldn't touch a $500 phone with any of the materials needed to accomplish this look.

i wouldnt do that to my phone, after awhile chrome gets boring and that mirror image looks like a made in china toy.

johngotti
03-18-2005, 05:55 PM
I will say this again.... FINGERPRINTS!!! How could you possibly keep this phone in good appearance if you use it even lightly..??? Would be an upkeep nightmare... if you want something to look that pretty polish out a demo phone and put it in a case in your house that you could look at it whenever you wanted to....

you say its featureless

carcomptoy
04-15-2005, 05:02 PM
Well, compared to other phones in its price range, it practically is. I mean $400 for VGA camera and just basic features like calling and texting, and a closed operating system. I mean, yes its form factor is the cause of the high price, but honestly, for $400 you could almost get a Nokia 6630, with megapixel camera, 3G, Symbian OS, etc., etc...

There is hardly any UI difference between the v3 and the v620 so, save your self the money and stick with a the v620 which cost 270 Euros verse the v3 that cost about 420 Euros. :D

What a rip off just for a flatter phone!
