No.
Why? Cause it's not Symbian.

What do you call the 6650 and the 7600? But I bet there will be more, just wait ...

marwan,
Why release a phone that's worse? They already have the 6680. It can compete with the Z/V800 and the K600i.
I didn't really like the K600i. A megapixel phone with no expandable memory? Who are we kidding?!

How can a limited functionality, and basic phone be a valid candidate for 3G?

remind me, are all 3G phones symbian? NO!

yes but i meant a low entery level for people that just want 3G without the smartphone part. like the K600 and stuff.
jolo, the 6650/7600 didnt have video conferencing capabilities.

It's too early to see entry level 3G phones. K600i is not an entry level phone.

Because 3G is not propagated well yet. Anybody who wants to have 3G right now has to fork some money over.

It's not irrelevant because he's saying that he doesn't care for them as they are not Series 60 Symbian! He's not saying ALL 3G phones are Symbian...he just stating that he's indifferent towards the new Series 40 3G phones because they're not Series 60! Besides, I will never get another phone unless it runs on Series 60 either...

well nokia is planning 10 3G phones this year across different price points. I am sure a few of which could be Series 40 but shd be well late in the year

Actually it might be Series45, since 6650/7600 were based on that platform for UMTS.

well yes but the only way prices would drop is when more and more people sign up for 3G. ie, SE is doing the right thing to shift people to 3G with the K600, it'll be cheaper than the Z800 and 6680.

This is true - video calls don't really excite me, tho. I wager that there will be S40 phones supporting video calls coming up at some point, probably announced in the 2Q.

i heard that the next communicator won't be out for a few years..

I doubt they will announce another communicator before mid 2006. 9500 and 9300 satisfy everybody for now. Businessmen are not keen on 3G. For now at least.

There's no such thing as S45, this was just a term which was used for the 6650/7600's different version of S40.
Karim

Yes, there is. Nokia 6650, 7600, 6170, 7270, 6101 run on Series 45.
Where does it say officially that's what it's called ? I thought all of the above phones were classed by Nokia as S40 despite the slightly different platform

9300 has edge already.
