Well, with the 9500, since it's only tri-band, and not quadband like the V3, you might get subpar coverage since Cingular sometimes requires the extra 850 band. I would go with the Nokia, seeing as how I hate Motorola and I'm on T-Mobile I don't have to worry about that extra band...but your best bet would probably be the V3. And btw, why is your uncle gonna send you a V3 if you can just get it from Cingular unlocked already?

v3 for you. since 9500 will serve you no purpose. you dont strike me as a smartphone user and when it comes to oomph and showoff nothing close to v3 right now * figuratively*

I seriously don't get all this hype with the V3!
So it's thin. So?
It's wide...very wide...and feature wise it's identical to a V600....which is over a year old.

How is that good to show off with!
I've seen lots of them where the keypad has peeled off!

That, in my eyes, is NOT a phone to be showing off!

Most people don't take into consideration features and quality...especially here in the US, where a phone is just a phone. Most people think that the 6600 was the first Nokia videophone, but it was the 7650 then the 3650! And as for quality, what do you expect, Motorola's American...don't you notice the lack of quality in GM and Ford cars? Whereas Americans may want big cars, they want small cellphones, even if it has a lack of features...

comparing these phones is like apples to oranges. the v3 is a cool looking PHONE. that's it. the 9500 is nothing short of notebook, just a helluva lot smaller.

V3 has a WOW factor..................

N9500 has a WHOA factor..................

You can do much more with it. Easier to type, internet, all that..... I think you will love it. Though, its larger too..

honestly..... :) Nokia 7710 is the WOWHOA factor... :)

well guy the nokia 9500 is a phone with everything you want in it. you can do word processing the works but really its just a phone. I have owned an s105, t616, z600, p800, p900, xdaII and a razr and you know what when it all comes down to it, a small handy phone is what matters. i mean how much time will you be working or doing homework on your phone? im sure you have a computer at home. play games at school? yeah wow factor at first but in the end just lame and boring. if you want a phone that will be there for you and you wont have any problems with. get the RAZR. if you dont like it, it will be much easier to sell also. i used to be a tech guy then i see people going clubbing and putting thier phones in their pockets so easily and i envy them.

the choice is still up to you though. you will get a bigger kick out of the N9500 but you will stay happier with the moto v3

You really have to look at what you want your phone to do for you. Do not base your decision off of any opinion (everyone has one)! In short dose your phone meet your needs? ;)

It's hard to think of two handsets that could be more different than the RAZR and 9500! They're both good handsets, but they have different strengths.

If you like the 9500 but the size is an issue, look at the 9300 instead - a much more compact device.

hmm v3 should ideally be fine for him ... as such things stand its got a stunning display and body and decent sound quality. A top not wow affair factor purely based on looks

Yeah, besides, with teenagers, especially here in the US, they don't care about the size sacrifice you have to make for technology. Everyone always asked me why I had my phone (3650) when it's so big...cause it can do so much that's why! But yeah, for teenager, especially one who doesn't really care about UI since he's considering Motorola, the V3 should serve his purpose, although I think he should go for Series 60 phone and not Series 80
