Hi guys, what do you guys think of the case of Globe and Smart sueing Sun for it's 24/7 promo?
I think Globe & Smart are jealous of Sun. And they think of Sun as a major threat to their oligopoly of the mobile market in RP.
However, it's also odd that the NTC didn't permit (it was on the papers a few weeks ago) PLDT to promote to their subscribers unlimited calls from any PLDT landline to any T&T and Smart mobile phone. Or something like this. All I know the basic reason the NTC didn't approve it is because of the UNLIMITED aspect of the service. And so Smart complained why they approved Sun's 24/7 promo and it's actually here to stay.
I guess Smart has a point, if Sun can provide unlimited texts and calls, why can't Smart also provide this type of service to their subscribers.
Too much corruption and red tape

why use landline to compete against a mobile? if Smart really wanted to get back its lost share of subscribers because of the 24/7 CTU, then they should offer the same plan, right?
Smart and Globe will have more problems as soon as Eurotel joins the fun...hehehe....
there will be 4 carriers. more competition, better value for consumers.....

Ha ha ha!! Good one :D
Globe and Smart are most probably threatened by Sun. After Eurotel, maybe Vodafone (UK) or Orange or Hutchison (Hong Kong) should join in the fun. If this happens, it's the consumers who'll have the most fun, he he!!

yea, bring em all, as long as they cover the whole islands and interconnection among them is always there...
you ought to see a small country like bangladesh that has literally hundreds of providers, and none is interconnected.... mwhahaha...

And now comes Smart with it's own version of unlimited texts and calls... 25/8.
Maybe Globe will introduce 26/9, bwahahaha!! :D

I wish I knew. But with all these unlimited calls and text schemes, I'm just very confused. I don't wanna bother knowing the differences. Even TM (Touch Mobile) has a similar promo. I'll stick with my G-Flex plan :p

smart 258 = gives you unlimitted calls (5-minutes each call) to all smart subs. including Talk & Text for ten days when you load a minimum of 115 pesos.
Touch Mobile Piso Power = calls on the third and succeeding minutes will be charged 1peso only.
During the first day of the smart promo, everything seemed fine. The following days, when more subscribers learned the promo, it became impossible to register. And until now, registration is still impossible. Registration by the way is done thru texting to a specific smart number, in which you'll receive a reply like they could no longer process requests due to tremendous response from the subscribers.... blah blah blah! are they (smart big wigs) dumb??? havent they thought of the surge of requests when they were still evaluating the promo??? perhaps smart is just so deperate as sun's promo is going really really good, the reason why the rolled-out a half-cooked promo! shame on them.

Heard any rumors that Globe has come up with a similar unlimited texts and call promo? Can anyone verify this?

piltel isn't the same as eurotel. piltel is a subsidiary of dominant carrier philippine long distance telephone company. piltel's gsm service is marketed under the brand name talk n' text.
