Hey ppl, i will b buying 2 new phones in a month's time... 1 for daily usage and 1 super cool hi-fi gizmo for parties n stuff (mostly d Moto Razor V3, but we'll discuss that later)

Since i find most users at mobileburn.com r really helpful, i thot y not ask d opinion of all experts out here.

The Pre-requisites for d Daily Usage phone apart from d max $ 350 price are: -
1. Fast UI
2. More than 100sms capacity
3. Strong Build Quality (shud b able to take a drop here n a bump there)
4. Excellent Call quality
5. Loud Ringing (Exterior Speaker Volume)
6. Radio (i wud like it, but its not high on my priority list)
7. Weight n Size - shud b easily pocketable, not too heavy, say bout 110 gms
8. Bluetooth (again not very imp, but quite useful nonetheless)

Basically a working man's phone!!

Things of not much importance
1. Camera/Video (i do not work in a modelling agency, sigh.. i wish i did though!! ;)
i know many ppl love camera phones, but i honestly dont find much use of it.
2. Symbian or not
3. Brand
4. Looks
5. Any other features that i may use only once in a blue moon or something.

Thanks everyone, peace to all
:)

Id say the Nokia 6230. It has everything you asking for plus stereo mp3player and you should be able to get it for about $350.

Thanks for ur opinion but what do u reckon bout the keypad?
u think its good enuff to enable me to type fast? i've heard some stuff from friends who were complaining bout the keypad... they say it's horrid!! also is it fast enuff? the ui will b quite easy since its a nokia but i really need it to b fast... also does it have themes? lemme know.. thanx :)

Nokia's UI enables u to type fast, but i doubt 6230's keypad and 5-way navi... some may get used to it, some couldn't. Actually, wats ur definition of typing fast? Is it real fast? (eligible for a speedmaster sms contest??) or normal, ok which under 1minute could've reached the 160 wording limit of a sms???

I would recommend with the prices i get in Malaysia ok?

1. 6230 - A very good package, feature packed albeit not very good quality build
2. K700 - Meets everything but keypad is rather cramped and 100sms limit is annoying
3. X700 - Slightly more than $350 but very well featured and Symbian meant almost unlimited sms storage (cos u could get 3rd party softwares that converts sms to .txt and u could transfer to PC or mem card.
4. Samsung E800 - Meets ur criteria well, but not all. Had a fast UI, good build and stores loads of contacts and sms. Speedy too and comfortable keypad.
5. Philips 750 - Maybe not as feature packed, not sure bout its speed but it had an exceptional battery life which few offer nowadays.

I have no trouble with the 6230's keypad, although mine is made from hard plastic like most other phones, but not like the standard graphite 6230. The UI on the 6230 is the fastest ive used on any phone.

Ya, 6230's fast; and i already knew u'r used to the keypad. :D i couldn't get comfortable with K700's keypad too, too cramped; so i type slowly over there, but my girlfriend can type faster than i do with my P910 albeit my p910'S UI is alot faster than k700's.... she gets used to finished typing and always gets happy when the words appear one by one after she stopped, she goes :"Look, Magic! " lol
Initially, i only hated 6230's 5-way. And the keypad is fine with my typing albeit the squeeky feel. :)

It's 100, which includes Inbox, Outbox, Sent,Draft. So it's 100, if u cleared off the drafts and unsent and sent messages. Inbox is definitely 100. :)

Get the Treo 600 or 650, it will do all you want it to do, although I am not sure as to how exactly what a drop here and a bump there mean to you ;-) It will do all you asked for. 650 has bluetooth, 600 does not... That's the main difference...

Im gonna drop my 2 pecos and give it up for the N6230 also. If the N6230i was to be released when you were to buy.. id recommend that - but I rather doubt it.
