Well, doesn't appear to have done it this time.
It looked to me as if you were trying to copy/paste from another editor or something.
In any event, your post is the first Ihave seen like that.
So why don't you give it another shot and edit the original post so that we can read it.

2MB.
Since Benson's post is mysteriously not there, can i jump in and post a question??? :D
It's about the T610 memory, in particular photos... Why do pics take up more memory space than they're supposed to??? For example, i took a 14kB photo (says in "pic info" as well as my iPAQ when i do a file transfer), however the phone stores the photo as a total 50kB?!?! This is obvious when you go to delete the photo or look up the difference in the "Memory Status". Can anyone explain this??? With the already small amount of memory available, this just makes it worse!
Cheers.

I'll toss out a theory here.
If the phone's storage works anything like disk storage does, it is possible that the memory is broken up into small blocks of some number of bytes.
The larger the blocks are, the fewer there are per any given amount of RAM and the easier it would be to manage their allocation (maintaining the file system, so to speak).
If the blocks were 50kb, then any file smaller than 50kb would take up 50kb space. Something 51kb in real size would take up 100kb in space (two blocks).

I have another theory.
The phone also needs to use memory to open the image not just to save it.
Something along those lines.

You're quite right!
I tried logging on to a picture site (esato...), and downloaded loads of pictures. All in the 8kb to 12kb range. All went well until I tried to enter "My Pictures". It seems that the memory serves as both storage and RAM. If you fill it with pictures from WAP, and then try to open the preview in "My Pictures", you'll see that "Free Memory" goes down for each picture that is processed by the viewer, until the memory is filled up, and the rest of the pictures are corrupted(!!?!)
I've tipped SE about this, but haven't gotten any replies yet.

What do you expect SE to say? That isn't a bug.
It is how most mobile devices work. PocketPCs, Palm, most phones made in the past 1.5 years.

None of my other devices corrupt the remaining images when the internal RAM fills up, they just can't view any more pictures.
If you download 30 pictures, all the same size, let's say 20kb. You have 1mb free on your T610, and you try to open your "My Pictures". After downloading 600kb, you'll have 400kb free memory. When opened, these pictures take 50kb, and you'll run out of memory as the device tries to preview the fourteenth picture.
What happens f.ex. on my Psion S3 , is that it won't open any more pictures. If I then free up memory, it'll be able to open more of the pictures. This didn't happen on my T610. It simply corrupted all the unopened datafiles. :( That's what I tipped SE on.

Gotcha, I must have missed the part where it was corrupting stuff. I thought you were talkingabout it using memory to view images and thusly not having as much free ram as advertised or something.
I think the ram theory is rite... When i loaded a 200kB animated gif (which btw looks amazing!) it took something like 2-3 mins loading time before it was viewable, its stored size is now a wopping 641kB! I'm assuming the other 441kB of memory is used as ram, cos when the phone is turned back on, the picture doesn't have a loading time.
Just thought i'd mention that... :D
