I have seen the thread in a Motorola forum re: accessing Gmail through a third party wap site. I wanted to know has anyone been successful in accessing their Gmail POP3 account without going through the wap site, either by setting up Gmail as an email account on the phone that uses MMS as the access point or by setting up access to your Gmail account through my Mmode. Myself and the Nokia tech services rep have each followed the POP configuration instructions on the Gmail settings page to access our Gmail accounts using Mmode as an access point. I have a 6620 and he had a 3650 each with ATT wireless as the service provider. No luck. Has anyone been able to do this successfully? Pls reply with tips/tricks. Thx.

Well, first of all, how do you access Gmail through a third party wap site...what's the WAP site?

I have now fixed the problem , with the help of folks on another forum. I'll take this opportunity to pass on the info here, both solutions work well but I prefer the direct acess over the wap site.
WAP: the wap site access to Gmail is through http://gmailwireless.com/. They are not affiliated with Gmail but most folks on several forums gave them good ratings and I can say that the site works as advertised.
Direct: Here are the settings, I have AWS as a carrier so the settings are for AWS. Be careful to get them exact:
On your 6620's menu, go to "messaging" and select it. Next, select "options" in the lower left corner, then select "settings". Scroll down to "e-mail" and select it. Next, select "mailboxes". I am assuming you already named your mailbox. If not, then do so. Go into your Gmail account settings.
For access point in use, select "mMode"
For your e-mail address, it's your username@gmail.com
Outgoing mail server is "smtp.gmail.com"
Send message "immediately"
Send copy to self, I put "No"
Include signature, I put "No"
User Name is your Gmail user name WITHOUT the "@gmail.com". Only put your user name.
Password is your Gmail password
Incoming mail server is "pop.gmail.com"
Mailbox type is "POP3"
Security is "SSL"
APOP secure login is "Off"
Again, I am just passing on some good info from others who helped me and have since told me that they were in my spot just three days ago trying to figure this out. What goes around really does come around.

I doubled check your settings with my N-Gage, and I can send messages fine but I just can't get it to retrieve messages! The only explanations that I can come up are either my N-Gage doesn't have the option of Security SSL (all that shows up is on or off) or either my T-Mobile t-zones is too slow to retrieve them...but the latter seems like it shouldn't make a difference!
Also, I tried the third party WAP site and I did the registration and everything, but when I try to log in on my phone, it just comes up with "Reply Unknown!"

Hmmm, my only suggestion is to recheck your outgoing mail server settings. Sounds like everything else was entered fine.
