Its no secret that the forums need some new mods so ive started this thread so that you guys can nominate who you would like to be mods for the forum. Hopefully Michael and Sid will then be able to use this thread to make a better decision.

rohan would make a good reviewer.... except he just does not leverage his fones wont test data ability rf usability actual os problems /advantages battery life talk time confirmation and all other stuff that micheal does. ( check his p900 review to get an idea )

thats just it....i spend a lot on my gadgets and phones and i expect to be able to leverage them fully am never in the game to use them for 3 days and cast them aside. i want full satisfaction from my investments however short time i may have them ( though the jam looks like a keeper )

same :). with watever i buy i make sure i use it thoroughly, although i regret buying the joycoder pv330 it still can coem in useful at times like when i backed up my computer. the 6630 is nothing short of a godsend so obviously its used to to max, my mp3 players will go through hell and back the way i use them. i make sure its moneys worth

U are right! We value our phones more! Everytime i buy a phone i am totally out of cash! My bank balance will be nil! So then i need to build up again! I am usually interested only in Nokia Series 60 phones! So i have owned all their series 60 phone right from 7650 to 6630! I have all of them! And all are in very very good conditon! So when i calculate how much i have spent.. the total amount is around Rs 150000 i.e 3500 usd! I have all the phones except 6670!

My opinion:

1. Shaheen - He's always here to help out, cross forum poster, but kinda fiery sometimes, but dats good since he will carry out all the diciplinary acts!! hehe which he got once himself~~ LOL :D
2. Ruler_70 - Very very nice guy that helps resolving problems... :)
3. Star - Very informative and gives very neutral comments
4. Shun - Very very informative, he's almost like a lawyer with engineering brains. :D
5. The Zodiac - Suitable being a moderator as he's across alot of forums and very informative as well
6. Jon - Have very in depth knowledge too, and he's from US, which alot of nominees here were from either Europe, Asia, Africa.
7. Rohan, tedwardo, diffenbaker, bart, Box215, franciscofarabia were all very good contributors to this forum as well.........

I'm still wondering why people collect phones...... and i was always wondering..... how could phones drop price that simply? does that meant they have such high margin for the manufacturers at the first place when they wsere launch?

its just marketing, cause with phones they change daily, so to keep up with them and to get rid of the previous models stock they have to lower the price, that way that phone can circulate more and after awhile when the new phone comes out people will want that and its a never ending cycle. its all marketing

u don get wat i dun understand, to be able to sell a phone 3-4 months after its initial launch, they have to keep producing it; so in order to sustain a marginal profit and still sell the products at almost 2/3 of the initial price; does dat meant they earn ALOT during their initial launch price????

yep. cause you see cost price never fluctuates or decreases much, for example Nokias cost price for the 6630 will remain the same forever, im guessing maybe less then 50dollars per phone to make. so when its first released they will make alot from it, and even if it drops to a very low selling price they will still make money no matter wat. thats the way it works

personally i feel the novelty of smartphones wear off after awhile, like with my 6630 first few days i was so psyched about installing apps and stuff, now i cant be bothered. so yea ill be happy wiht the k750

i dun think so, it's more for entertainment. ok, tell me this; is those RIM 7100s smartphones? but do they do business stuffs better than Series 60s? Although S60 phones could read and write MS word,but which idiot would use it? even my P910 screen is useless for MS words....... those S60 users ended up installing weird functionality softwares, games and stuffs, nothing really related for everyday business usage .... truly~ its the same as my P910 as well, but i love those sms folder locking softwares, video, pic, sound encrypting softwares and so on..... other than that~~ nothing really business.

All nokia needs to do to make the Series60 phones the ultimate business and leisure phones, is to bring out a 3G s60 phone with 3MP cam, stereo mp3 and radio and then all the other standard s60 features.

i have a schoolmate who wields a p910 ... but is probably unaware of BT and contacts synching

i have a classmate who owns a 6600 ... your de reiguer smartphone ... his most common use ? take videos and pics ... he din even realise can use BT to transfer stuff over frome e PC ...

ive used the 6230 ( fren's) found it particularly dissapointing ... screen is really too dark ...

FINALLY!!! I am so sick of reading threads on everything but what a smartphone is actually intended for !! there are any no of people who want it for photos blah blah blah


for me a phone apart from the obvious mp3 / video parts means

1) sync with my mail/contacts flawlessly

2) store my notes contacts / edit documents on the fly

3 ) have good data ability to be able to get my mail and all on the fly

4 ) be able to use the fone to login into my office servers via vpn for on the move updates from the exchange server / internal memos notes

5 ) terminal services.... for quick access to various servers.

just a few of the things i look for in a phone apart from the normal bluetooth compatibility wifi features good fone and messaging ( sms ) easy expandability
and others.....

I have used every platform out there s60 uiq ppc and s90. With a lil bit of tweaking here and there ive managed to get what i wanted out of these fones and am always looking for ways to make better use of these smartphones....

for eg ... 6630 has edge.... jam does not .... use the 6630 as a bt modem for getting mail/vpn access .. etc


i am sure there a lot of users who dont feel the need for mp cams as de-rigeur on their fones and are perfectly happy with their p900s or other class smartfones preferring to leverage them for their needs.

a friend of mine said that he got a cabir on his 6600 and he said he doesn't even know why he got that... (after pressing those "yes" "yes" and "yes" confoirmation LOL)

Nokia now just making Series 60 a standard for everyone so i guess it just depends on who the user is, if the user just wants a basic functionality it does that wisely and if its a power user it also does that... moreover it will bcome like windows i guess lol....

Something other platforms could emulate if they ever hope to achieve the success of s60. on their own platforms

I am aware not everyone is like me willing to explore other platforms and leverage them. Most people are happy just owning something well they known is more advanced than their avg joe neigbhours fone ... ( even though the neighbour maybe using far more features on his plane jane s40 fone :D )

As such, Deviant and I have been going back and forth about making changes and adding mods.

I have been more active recently, I read things when I am alerted to them by people reporting posts. You cannot expect me to see everything, especially if no-one bothers to report it.

I have some ideas about who could be given powers to control some aspects of the board in my absence, I agree with some of the suggestions made so far but strongly disagree with some - mainly in light of that CLARA thread, and some of the sexually-oriented posts as well as some downright childish ones recently.

For those of you who think I just don't care, I am holding down 4 main jobs and some things just have to take a back seat sometimes... I'm attempting to set aside time to maintain things here now.

But remember, it is not only a moderator's job to see everything, he needs help from people who see the problems, so thanks to those of you who report the posts which need to be reported.

Very happy to know u guys have read this thread, somehow these few days the forum has been very boring, (and it's my holiday as well) news have been lacking, forums are boring (despite the little quarrel over some threads) i notice some of us (even ME myself) was so bored that we had to just answer in the forums to see if anyones here to reply and then keep on replying craps till someone comes up with new topics; which eventually went off topic from the thread's topic. Sorry for that but i do really hope that u guys should let some of the posters here to post news as they have extraordinary channels to get news; this might help adding some excitement here. i think we should have someone to :

- Posts current news
- Change the polling every 1 week

I mean they can only report news about phones when there are news about phones, look at howardchui.com they take ages for a review to come up and so does alot of other phone reviewing sites.
