I can understand computers and graphics programs all day, but this cell phone network stuff is giving me a headache!
Here is my situation....
I currently use prepay through Virgin, only because I use my phone very rarely at home; sometimes I never even use it once in a month. However, I will be traveling in Europe on occasion over the next couple of years, and would like an additional solution.
After reading all morning, am I correct in interpreting that if I buy an unlocked quad-band GSM phone without a provider, and purchase a SIM card from UK company where I pay by the minute, that when I place the card into the phone, that I should be able to use it on most networks in the world?
I would also like to use it in the US, as my Virgin phone does not have coverage to some areas. Yes, this will be an expensive per-minute solution, but I only need it for basic communication.
Am I correct in my assumption; and does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
