Are you just going to connect the computers are 2 wifi-cards perfect. If you're going to make them internet-accessable you're going to need a wifi-router. A Netgear should work.

A wifi router + wireless pci cards (in case of a desktop) or a wireless pcmcia card (in case of a laptop). Use the same brand for everything. That will the best.

1 - Internet connected with
2 - ADSL Modem connected with
3 - Wifi Router (most of the routers are equipped with 4 ports utp) wireless connected with
4 - 1 laptop, 2 desktops
If one of your desktop computers stands next to the Wifi Router, you better can use an utp for that one. It's still faster than wireless.
BTW: Enable DHCP (it automatically assigns ip addresses to your comps)

I would recommend one PC connected to WiFi router and ADSL modem, then another PC and Laptop connects using either PCMCIA WiFi card (no Centrino?!?!?) or PCI WiFi. Then the 2 PCs connected with normal 100MB Lan cable for faster transfering of files. 100MB vs 10MB(or 54MBs ??)
