View Full Version : Changing 6230b firmware - 850 Mhz to 900 Mhz

Hi,
I recently bought a Nokia 6230b, which supports GSM 850/1800/1900. I would like to tweak its firmware to use GSM 900 instead of GSM 850.

Can this be done?
Any tips and help will be appreciated.

I don't think you can change it with different firmware.

Yeah it's not at all possible...it has nothing to do with the firmware but rather the hardware. No firmware update can change the 850MHz to 900MHz; it's like trying to change a VGA camera to a megapixel camera...it cannot be done. It all has to do with the hardware, what's the phone is actually built out of. Unfortunately, you got the one built with 850 MHz and nothing can be done about it except actually changing the radio, which I don't know if that can be done. Best thing to do is to sell the phone and buy the A version...
