Nah, unfortunetaly the 6630 & 9500 can't be unlocked at the moment....... :(
Magic Power!!! Sometime, I go back to my country where Vodafone Network cannot. So I need to buy another Simcard (GSM) of another Company.
In This case I cannot put this SIMCARD into my mobile (only for Vodafone Simcard). This the reason i have to unlock it... If cannot, I have to buy a new mobile to use in my country.

It means that i must wait until it can???

What's a pity, I don't know where I should take in Japan
I don't know where to take it to in Japan.. I have just come here for work.
When you ask for me, and buy unlock code, I'll pay money for unlock code..
I have just visited this http://www.irwebonline.com/acatalog/Unlock_Vodafone_Nokia_6630_Remote_Unlock_Code_1698 .html
But i dont know if it believe or not... :(
its probably genuine as its not impossible to unlock any phone. if you asked vodafone to unlock it they would. this phone just seems "unlockable" because nobody has figured out a code calculator for it yet

is that because the 6630 is dct5 and not dct4?

It uses some custom ASIC code, probably designed to protect network operators whose phones have been easily unlocked in the past. I don't think it's DCT5 because I don't even think these are released yet.

Do not post any more in this thread unless you have a solution to unlocking this phone via codes.
Do not post if you want your phone unlocked because I too am waiting and I am not getting impatient and making silly worthless posts here. When someone finds a solution it will be posted and made public.

When I try to create codes for the Nokia 6630 I get Asic 7 and GEN V2, with my DCT 2,3,4 expert calculator v3.10 by Crux. But the generated code 7 and 1 didn't work. Is the 6630 a DCT5 or is the GEN other than V2? Help... a lot of people want to know. Also, here's the site where I got the calculator if anyone wants to try. Please post if you get it to work and with what specs. Thanks! http://unlock.nokiafree.org/download.php

Well, my unlock code has just come through but it doesn't do anything. Type it in (with SIM card in as requested) and it just disappears - no 'CODE ERROR' or 'NOT ALLOWED' or anything like that.
This is the letter I got:
***
Further to your telephone conversations with the Vodafone Helpline regarding the unlocking of your Nokia Handset. I set out below the procedure and the unlocking code:-
1. With the Vodafone UK Sim inside your handset.
2. Key #pw+896066599560863+1# (The p w and + symbols are found by keying the * key twice for the + symbol, three times for 'p' and four times for 'w')
3. The handset should then display "Sim restriction off" which means it is unlocked
4. Please note should the handset display 'CODE ERROR' please do not attempt to enter the sequence more than two times, please contact the Helpline, as you risk blocking the handset.
If the procedure above fails to work please do not attempt to enter the procedure again. Please contact the Vodafone Helpline for further assistance.
I hope that you will find this information straightforward, however should you require any further information or assistance please contact the Helpline on 191 from your mobile phone or on 07836191919 (if your on Vodafone contract) or 08700776655 (if your on Vodafone Pay as you Talk) from a landline.
We Apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay in waiting for your NUC code, please accept our humblest apologies
Yours Sincerely

If you have any ideas then you're a better person than me! If they charge me for it I'll cut off their direct debit, but I have tried most options - might just pay to get it unlocked now...

Any luck yet? I registered here in hope to find the lost secrets of unlocking my vodafone 6630, any help from any body would be greatly appreciated.
My unlock code from vodafone worked fine. I don't want to post my IMEI on here though.

So what's the update on unlocking the 6630? Still not possible with current calculators?

I got a code from NUC (Nokia's official unlocking department) and whilst I didn't get a code error it didn't work, it just disappeared (as said above), I got so frustrated I sold my Vodafone 6630 and purchased a Three 6630 on contract (and at a great price so I actually made money from selling my old one and getting a new one).
Basically no-one (yet) can unlock these phones apart from Nokia, so no number of code calculators are going to help you I'm afraid!
Nokia must have their work cut out if nobody has figured out the algorithm for this phone yet, it's been out for almost 6 months now. I have a hunch that the networks have paid a lot of money to Nokia to develop this new ASIC type to prevent people from easily using their phones on another network. It's almost anti-trust in a way

Perhaps, but I suspect not. I was a contract customer, that said you might be ok and it might be worth a shot, PAYG sims aren't expensive now.
aviljoen, of course the numbers are IMEI-specific, it would have taken less than 2 minutes research to tell you that...

Ok update for you people.. Here is how I went about unlocking my nokia 6630. It was only working on vodafone. So I went out and bought the cheapest vodafone simcard avalible, you might be able to find a free one somewhere around your house or use a friends? I paid £6.99... I rang up this number 08080945945 (standard rate number to a vodafone office) and picked option 2 on the phone. I told them I bought the phone on pay as you go vodafone (yeah right lol) and that I had an O2 sim card with credit I wanted to use, but it wouldn't let me use it. Then she said I could have it unlocked if I pay £19.99 fee... So go my credit card out and paid £19.99 and now I'm waiting for the code to be sent to me email address..
I bought the phone second hand for £238 + £6.99 (sim) + £19.99 (unblock) = £264.98
Not bad for an unlocked 6630?
RRP ranges from £399.99 to £420 and cheapest online shop to sell it sim free is £281.99 with delivery.

Yes, there is a solution, you go to your service provider and pay them for the code, who in turn ask Nokia for it. There is no other solution yet.
