Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has come across this before and if so, is there an easy fix?

For the past few months I have noticed 2 or 3 buttons on my 7610 seem to need 1 or 2 presses to work. This isn't a problem for calling as I tend to only use my phone book using the direction navigator but when I am creating text messages it is really annoying. I have taken the fascia off and checked there are no crumbs or dust or anything stuck behind the button pad and have had a close look at the bit (sorry for being so untechnical!) which the button pad presses to see if anything has snapped off. As far as I can see it is all fine.

The only thing that does look like it *might* be the problem is on the button pad there are small rubber dimples on the reverse side that I guess do the pressing, they seem slightly (and I mean very slightly) worn probably due to heavy use.

Do you think a new button pad and/or fascia will do the trick or is this a common problem with the workings of a 7610?

TIA

Possibly the button pad. New button pads are fairly inexpensive so why not try and see. Do report back for other users benefit.

Take the fasia & buttons off the phone and press the keys with your finger nail or pen... If they press ok that it's the buttons if it is not any better it could have some water damage, which is easy enough to fix...

You can get 7610 buttons on eBay for about €/$/£5 ...

hi all
thanks for the replies. I've tried the suggestions and the thing that seems to be going wrong is the actual electronic bit behind the button pad. If I remove the pad and try hitting the numbers with my finger nail it is still unresonsive so I'm assuming the problem does not lie with the button fascia pad and rather the phone itself. Can anyone suggest any simple fixes for this?

TIA
Tim

Well, if its the 'electronic bit' that's unresponsive ... you need to get it fixed at a Nokia Care Centre.

Should be free, as long as its under 12 months warranty ...

You chould take Your phone to nearest Nokia Service Point and they will most likely change the UI board. Voila You should be up and running again
