Boring, yes. But: this is just a way to capitalize a little more on an investment already made in terms of design, production lines, logictical chains etc. etc. 6820 was not that bad a phone - small, innovative fold out design etc. I am sure in many markets (remember, phones are not sold in Europe only - the market most people in these forums are familiar with) people are still looking at 6820. So, with 6822 they get the same thing with improved features. Nothing wrong with that.

Btw, we all bitched about how stupind 6610i was. Yet it was for a while among the top 10 selling phones in Singapore of all places! I am sure it still selling lots in markets where camera phones are only now becoming affordable (Africa, Latin America, Central Asia etc.).

For a text message freak 6822 seems like a pretty ok phone. Nothing better in the Nokia range with this size and price at the moment. Hell, if I was getting a new service and got this one for free, even I might be interested.

It's all about business and profit per unit :)

ill agree with that. i i used a 6820 for about 5 months and the biggest drawback was the horrendous screen so i guess they got that fixed. expandable memory would have made this phone a lot more marketable in my eyes.

The 6820 has a *really* crappy display.. this has the same resolution so I can't imagine it would be much better. It's a shame, because apart from the display the 6820 is quite decent.

IMO that screen should be at least 128x160 pixels if not larger for this type of device. 176x220 would be ideal for working with text. But the bottom line is that if you compare the 6820 (and I guess the 6822) with a Blackberry, then the enormous difference in screen quality becomes apparent.

its not really just the resolution that makes the screen look bad... the 6820 had the same resolution as the 6220 and 3300 but the quality of the display was crap.
it might have the same screen as the 6230.

Looks like the only improvements to this one is the EDGE, 65K screen, and slightly "fluffy" styling. I wonder if this one used the S40 v2 platform. Even though it supports 12x160 screens, this one dosnt have that. It would have been nice, though it may have given it an ugly face. Maybe next time.

Yeah, the 6230 is much better, though I can't see on the press release if this is a TFT, STN or what.

edge was actually on the 6820 too.

I think that Nokia wasted time and money for doing a "6822", not worth it. It's too late to improve a 6822 with these very minor things. It could be improved if it supports mp3, or have more storage or have a 1 MP camera, or even a 3G compliant phone.

nokia should have 128x160 screens in all there S40 devices since they've started doing that with some of the other handsets.. it would've given the phone more appeal.

SAME OLD NOKIA STYLE .............. before long they might come out with a 9500i with a flash beside the VGA cam. ONLY. or a 9300ii with built in WiFi and camera but monochrome screen~~~~

pretty much 6820 is a sturdy fone can take a lot of knocks and has decent battery life. this however is wasted. just one more to fill up the fabulous 40 they promise to deliver this yr . instead of 6822 i would have liked to see a 6255 ( cdma ) gsm fone equiv. THat would have rocked.

And it has blutooth v 1.0 according to the specifications rohan123 posted. in the days of bluetoothb 1.2, 1.0 feels old. and it's probably a bit buggy, since it's an older version.

I have a problem with the PC Suite as supplied with the 6822.
My PC has a BlueSoleil bluetooth system, but the PC Suite does not find it, nor use the Bluetooth conectivity
I can connect to the phone with the standard bluetooth application, but this is not picked up by the Nokia software.

How do I get PC Suite to recognise the Bluetooth system and interact with this and talk to the phone?
