so lately i have been going totaly insane with this problem with Nokia 6630. Lately whenever i make or recieve a call, my phone has been making a faint whisteling sound. I took the phone to the Nokia dealer and had them re-install the software(V 2.39.15)(*#0000# to find firmware version), i get the phone back 3 days later and it's still doing the same thing! i totaly freak out, call the dealer demanding a new 6630 replacement. So today i recieve my brand new 6630 and guess what? IT'S DOING THE SOUND AGAIN! i was about to start pulling my hair out, i love this phone, but that sound was driving me nuts! ....after hours of thinking, worrying, stressing, i suspected it might be my USIM card. So to test it out, i got a regular SIM card and tried on my phone, and guess what? the sound was completely gone! i put my USIM back again, and it's making the sound! ....so by now i figured it's the USIM and not the phone, which made me feel better since i could get a new USIM card in no time. But things didnt end there! i discovered that when im in a GPRS network(where the 3G is not displayed) the phone sounds perfectly fine, but if the phone is in a 3G network, i hear that buzzing noise!!!
Now i know for a fact that 3G is still testing here in UAE(etisalat is the phone service provider), this problem might even go away when 3G goes fully in operation(3G is widely available almost in all areas here). so my question is, could this be a usuall USIM(3G SIM) problem? or is it my provider? if your in the UAE and own a 6630+3G please tell me if your having the same problem(Zayed4ever i need your input since you own a 6630 and a USIM)
atleast i feel relieved now! :)
thanks!

zayed do me a favor please. when the 3G sign is on, make a call, and listen carefully, tell me if you ear anything, put up the volume and liisted, also make sure you're in a completely silent area.
I really hope i it's defeted USIM so i can get mine replaced.
thanks!
we have a similar problem here on one of our 3g networks (3). my mum has a 7600 and it always makes strange wooshing sounds like reversed breathing when i call her. i'm not sure whether it's the phone or the network though as i have an a1000 and its fine.
if your 3g network is new i would say its most likely a network error as ours is almost 2 years old and we still get the odd strange sound on calls sometimes but works fine when on gprs. best thing to do is call your network and explain it to them to see what they say

hi there twatrash, i called my service provider a few days back and they dont know anything baout this problem, they told me thier 3G network is fine and they are not experiencing any problems with it. I even though it was my USIM and had gotten a new one from them, still didn't fix the problem. It only means there is some issues with the 3G network and the 6630. For now i will live with it cuz it isnt bothering me as much anymore, BUT i will go to a mobile store soon and have them use my USIM in another 3G mobile(SE most likely) and see if the problem persists on other mobiles.
then again it might be that the 6630 needs a firmware upgrade to fix this problem.
btw 3G network here has been around for around a year and a half.
does your moms phone make that wooshing noise when it's on a 3G network only?
yes it only makes it when using 3g network. i have a 7600 too but with newer firmware and it doesnt make those noises even on 3g

i see, then maybe it's like a suggested, hopefully a firmware fix is around the corner.
