yes you can do it through Bluetooth and connect at 3G from your phone, but the problem is that BT is slow, it can only transfer a few kb per second, so even if you were on 3G it would be EXTREMELY slow!

Bluetooth 1.x operating speed is 700+ kb, faster than 3G.

and x refers to what? im usuming you neab 1.2? 6630 is 1.2 but if his PDA is 1.1 then it's useless.

Both 1.1 and 1.2 operate at 700+kb.

From the user guide, 6630 uses Bluetooth 1.1, not 1.2.

Under Connectivity, it say

"This device is compliant with Bluetooth Specification 1.1 supporting the following profiles: Generic Access Profile, Serial Port Profile, Dial-up Networking Profile, Headset Profile, Handsfree Profile, Generic Object Exchange Profile, Object Push Profile, File Transfer Profile, and Basic Imaging Profile."

as far as i know, Nokia 6630 is the first nokia to have BT 1.2

oh well. anyways, connectiont to the net using BT is useless!

bluetooth is faster than 3g, and i would get a fast connection (and i will) if i had 3g, but right now i'm using gprs, 28,8 kbit/s:(. but yeah u should get a fast connection, and if you don't some setting is wrong, some driver is old or you have hardware problems.

I don't have access to 3G, basing on the information available on the Net, I think you connect to 3G in the same way you connect to GPRS, ie. dial-up through the phone using the number *99# for default connection or *99***x# (replace x with profile number) for selective connection.

PS: since you have already done it with the K700i, I skipped the detail, :)

fabarati, i will try to connect through 3G using my friends laptop. it should be interesting.

and btw when u get a 3G SIM card, it automatically switches GPRS to 3G whenever it's available(depends on coverage).

i can also do it through the cable right?

if it's a windows laptop, it should be VERY interesting.
u can do it using cable, ir and bluetooth. it's easier with ir, but cable and bluetooth are faster.

u're using irda modem, which means it doesn't connect through bluetooth. try to use set up a bluetooth connection and use it with your present settings, but see if you can take the baudrate any higher. i'll try to write a mini guide, and then i'll be back

I set up the connection and everything but it didnt work

I tried using the normal dial-up number *4004444* that i usually use for my pda.. it worked

but when i change the number to *99# w/all the other settings, the pda tells me that the phone disconnects.. it doesnt even attempt 2 dial the number although it established bt connection

zayed, any idea if you're getting that sound on 3G network? please put the volume up on your 6630(max), make sure it's on 3G, then call a friend, now listen carefully because the sound should come on as soon as you hit the green button. the sound is a like a thin high pitch whistle(or tone).

i exchanged my USIM and it's still doing the same thing. so i learned to live with it, but im curiouse if yours does the same.

and last, do you know if Etisalat chrages for uploading? or is it that we get charged for doanloading?(1fils per kb)

thanks,

srry, hadn't had the time to write the miniguide. it should work like that, but i remember that i had problems when trying to set up gprs in my pda. try phoning your phone company and see if they can sort things out.
