Purchased a new SE but.... help!?

I've been waiting to upgrade my T68i and settled on the Z600 with a HBH-660 headset. So earlier this week I finally had the money to get the phone. I searched and searched and ended up at MyWorldPhone.com.. I called them up because I remember seeing the phone at a good price a few weeks ago, they said nope, but gave me what I thought appeared to be a partner company called ExoticPhone.com. I called them up to verify stock, the guy said they had local stock in CA (the number was in the inland empire area) so I figured cool. So I ordered it, requesting a certain color scheme since the site says they have 4 choices available. So I order it around 11am est, suppose to ship the same day, doesn't ship until the next day. So I'm expecting it Thursday, but Kudos to UPS! I get it today! It came from NY! wha?? So I carefully open it up, it was packaged up rather cheaply imo, and pull the box out.. Find the Silver Seal broken and think, ok.. Open it up to find everything in order.. But wait.. It's a European Charger with an adapter thrown in the box!! I look at the manual which is all in French... Phone was made in France.... Color scheme NOT what I requested..

So my question here is this.. What should I do?? Nobody said it was gonna be a EU phone, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it.. I hate adapters.. The colors I can live with as I had planned on a couple from eBay anyhow.. I guess my Main question is, Is the Waranty Still Valid from SE?? I have my chargers from my T68 and HBH-60, but when those go, I should have my HBH-660 which will have the same charger, so I don't worry about the charger bit, but I don't want a product that isn't going to be supported...

For reference, the colors it came with and as listed on the box, Stripes & Blue ES. Also, below the IMEI number and the BT logos is a Yellow Sticker with a barcode on it that reads: Ref: TMERIZ600L (newline) TM Sony Ericsson Z600 Libre and the barcode resembles a UPC number.

Please Help!! I wanna take care of this in the morning if at all possible.

most likely the guy cheated ya.

u live in the US of A rite ? yup yup . since the manual is in french and its a european charger, most likely the guy sent u a european set. and u mean the silver seal is broken ?? tts really bad. could be stolen or refurbished 2nd hand set. erm , checking the imei and doing background check on the phone is rather troublesome. check ur telco , AT & t for e.g .. somtimes they do these checks.

since its a european set. warranty is valid only in EUROPE . most likely CONTINENTAL EUROPE. ya should be getting a set with AMERICAN warr. unless its a inernational warr card. international i m not so sure whether does sonyericsson has such a warr card.

do call up ur nearest se branch and ask them to run up a imei batch no. to find out its exact origin was from where ?

my advice is to go get a refund / new set.

did the webbie explcitly stated wad the handset come with ?
like international warr . where the phone came from etc etc ?

cos if the terms stated were ambiguous , he could have gotten a refurbished set from anywhere in the world , and match it with a phoen box.

anyway press *#06# to check imei no. . use this imei no. to cross reference with the imei no. on the box.

easiest way i know how to check for fraud :P sorry ! if imei dosent match , u have every single right to request for a refund cos it means that the phone didnt come from the original box and its either a refurbished or a 2nd hand set.

I don't believe SE has an "international" warranty.. When this phone first came out, I noticed on eBay ppl selling the EU sets as real deals then when they hit the US officially ppl advertised them as USA sets with the US Warranty.. I figured it had be long enough for all the evil activity to stop.. Guess not..

Is there anyway to poweron the phone using just the charger? Also, since I can't read French.. Where is the power button.. <ugh>

The imei numbers match from box to phone, but dunno what that proves.. Trying to get Cingular to search anything, I'd have an easier time robbing a bank I think..

I just got off the phone with him.. He seems to stand behind what he sells. He said 95% of all their phones are EU or Asia phones. Which I can believe considering he sells the Z1010.. He stated I have 90days direct thru them and the 1yr is valid if shipped thru them. I'm not too keen on the 1yr thing tho.. But I guess if a phone lasts 30-90days w/o dieing it's okay as long as you don't loose it. So, I guess I'll open up the battery and try it. If the IMEI doesn't match back it goes. He stated it was factory new from SE to which looks correct but one never knows I guess...

Willing to try, but uncertain....
