thanks for the info guys...
Hmm... I'm not sure about other countries, but in Singapore at least, the K500i is already priced pretty low, and considering that its aesthetics (at least the silver version) and screen is better than the K300i's, I'd say that SE would have to price it REALLY low (however unlikely) for people to even consider getting it over the former...
Overall, a just average phone, and not the one which SE desperately needs to regain some lost ground in the market. :(

Here are my observations:
1. It has the shape of a K700i
2. It has the keypad of a T310 (numbers) and T610 (left & right menu botton)
3. It's competing with low-end Motorola phones coz it can play mp3s :)

yeah, but unfortunately, even motorola phones like the E398 have way more on-board memory, PLUS a memory card slot, how is K300i gonna compete with that? Sigh...

The K300 is a basic entry level phone. If you going to compare it to a moto, then compare it to the C650.

but would it even compete with that? because SE phones tend to be expensive when first introduced!!

Theres no need to slaggin the K300 off, its,as said in the review at mobile-review, the best in its segment, the screen isnt as good as in the C65, but far better than the one in Nokia 3220, 6020 and about the same as in the 6230.
It will take around 4-6 months before Nokia or any other of SEs competitors come with a model even close to the K300.
The K300 is a phone in the lower midle-class segment

If you could show me an unfavourable review of an SE device on M-R review i might begin to agree with you.

I wouldnt call the review as favourable, its more like: its not ver y advanced but got the most importants stuff, people looking for phones in this segment will surely go for this one etc...and sales statistics shows that SE:s phones have good sales

IMHO ... this is probably one of the worst phones SE has made since sony and ericsson combined.
resonas :
1) crappy recycled t610 STN screen
2) terrible design ( i noe SE and siemens share platform but couldnt they have spent a little more money and improve the design ?? )
3) no BT ( nearly a standard and a basic feature on almost every single SE )
SE should have never ever released this set. i mean . SE has always been known for quality phones . not quantity phones. if duds like the z500a and the k300i is supposed to allow SE to try to compete in nokia's arena of low end budget models. then i have to say that SE's business strategy is going to fail .
i mean . SE has a damned good reputation for solidly built phones , small with excellent screens + great features + unique designs.
here they go , banking on the SE name but releasing a crappily ( IMHO) designed phone , so-so screens ( anyone seen the new NK 2600 screens ? fabulous screens for a low budget phone or just look at the samsung x430 for a nice screen), so-so features ( mp3 ringtones ? wads so unique about that ? nearly almost every nokia has that function nowadays)
to put it in a nutshell. its like putting a BMW brand on a outsourced small half past six czech car maker and trying to sell it to the general public as a BMW with all the bells and whistles.
it just aint right. and it dont smell too good ? get what i mean >?
