I need to know what you guys think. I have been offered a V800 for US$400 from a guy on eBay and he says it doesn't have the Vodafone badging or firmware - on another forum they said that there is no SE firware. He also said that prices will increase mid-January. I want to believe him with all this but I know he is jsut trying to sell them.
So what do you think. I love the phone, and have been hanging out for it. I'm jsut afraid that a SE branded V800 with come out in Jan and therefore I would have rushed into it. I'm not concerned with any other SE phones coming out because I won't be able to afford them.
Anyway your thoughts are greatly appreciation. Do I buy it now and make it my christmas present or do I wait till Jan and make it my birthday present?
it's only a few weeks away so i would wait if i was you. i know it's painful and all ! this sounds a bit too good to be true to me, $400 is cheap.
and afaik there isn't a non-branded version of the v800 as yet is there

@twatrash
wad u you mean by a few weeks away? jan? but no one knows when there will be a 100% SE branded V800... people are not even sure if theres such a thing.
@expansion
My bet is they will produce another phone same as V800 with SE firmware. This will also goes to different design aswell. Just think of F500i (vodafone branded) = K500i (100% SE) There is no unbranded F500i, if u want unbranded than u have to go with K500i... so probably its the same with V800. About u purchasing it in ebay.. well I wud go for it, but make sure u check his profile if its gd or not.. thats wud help ya.
yes i meant january, sorry.
i would just wait until then and see what's happening. there's no point in rushing into buying a phone which isn't 100% of what you want just for the sake of having it early. god knows i've done that a million times before... :-)

yeah true - but if a new 'revised' SE model does come out - which presumably by looking at F500 and K500 would have only minor design changes - then couldn't that firware be used and installed on the V800?

F500 & K500 is the same phone except for design and branded/unbranded.. but if im right it shud work with the new firmware... unless the new model has a different hardware e.g 2MP camera or larger external/internal screen.. thats might be a problem.
either way the new model price will definately be higher than V800.. regardless of same or new design/features..

yah...and if i wait till jan and there is a new 'revised' phone... its gonna take the price of the V800 down (on ebay at least) so its a no loss situation :D

yeap
my guess is tt since clamshells are Z series + the fact that 4 digit numbers are assigned to 3g models ( by SE ) could be z1020 or like shaheen says z1012 wadeva ! but i m pretty sure its a Z and its 4 digit . sony rarely deviates from standard procedure.
maybe a z2020 ?
